5 days away from my wedding and acne has popped up! Help!

Emily, on October 15, 2018 at 11:50 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 19

I'm 5 days away from my wedding and acne has popped up on my chin. Please help me get this somewhat cleared up by Saturday! I have very oily skin. I'm trying to drink a lot of water this week, I wash my face as soon as I get home from work. I'm afraid if I do too much it's going to make it worse. Someone help! Smiley sad

Benzoyl peroxide. It will dry your face out so make sure to have a good face lotion.

Get a charcoal mask! It won’t get rid of the acne but it literally closes your pores and kills the toxins inside them, which IMMEDIATELY noticeably reduces the redness and the inflammation. Leave on for 20 mins and be sure to moisturize (oil-free moisturizer) after.

Im terrified of this happening to me too, I’ve battled with acne breakouts on and off since I was 15 and finally a couple months ago got it to clear up after a year-long breakout... I’m so afraid it’s going to flare up again right before the wedding since stress always seems to make it worse for me!

Try to remember your makeup will cover most of it, and your photographer will be able to edit it out of your photos!

Also just noticed you said it’s on your chin, honestly that’s probably the least noticeable place it could be

    Hello Emily!!

I'm so sorry that you acne has picked 5 days before your wedding to appear!! My greatest advice would be to do what your doing and drink a ton of water!!! I also read that there are "super foods" for acne like dark greens and berries!

Just be careful with acne medicine like Benzoyl peroxide because, as Megan said, it can dry out your face! I personally can hide my acne with makeup really well but my dry skin on my face is somehow becomes more irritated/noticeable with makeup! I think it very much depends on the type of skin you have (I have very oily skin) but it's a helpful tip to keep in mind!

Wash your sheets & pillowcase when you get home! It helps so much, they get SO dirty from sleeping on them every night. I'd also sanitize your phone, I think people forget how often they touch it (then their face or their phone to their face). I think the water is a GREAT idea! Do you have a go-to spot treatment you like? If not, I'd turn to an exfoliating scrub like St. Ives and maybe a mask. I use face masks from Walmart all the time, and they really seem to help my skin. I use a toner & serum daily, but I'm not sure I'd recommend trying a new one so close to your wedding. It if were me, I'd wash the sheets/pillow/case phone, and use a wash for oily skin + exfoliating wash every day, plus water!

A dab of cortisone cream reduces swelling and redness. It doesn't dry out the pimple, so I apply is after I have washed my face. A little dab goes a long way!

In my personal experience I have had a lot of success with washing with baking soda. Just plain baking soda and a bit of water to make a paste. Baking soda is anti inflammatory and antiseptic. Just dont scrub too harshly, it's pretty corse on its own.

Could you check Groupon to see if you can get a facial before your wedding?

Pimple patches. They’re the least harsh and most of them are clear.

Can you go to your dermatologist and get it injected with cortisone? Happened to me and what I did...3 days before wedding. Worked out perfectly and she gave me a little cream for it afterwards. Day of, wasn’t there.

This is what I'm already mentally preparing for because even though they don't tell you in the movies or on TV, acne is not just a teenager thing. Assuming it's spots not an all over breakout, I've heard good things about COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch. I'm planning on getting some for before my wedding just in case. I would also try limiting dairy and try to be aware of how much you're touching your face (this is a huge culprit for me). I only use cleansing oil to wash my face. While it sounds counterintuitive to wash your face with oil, it helps replenish good oils without stripping your skin and making it think it needs to produce more. The kind I use is Julep Love Your Bare Face; you can get it at Ulta. Zits or no zits, you're going to be a beatiful bride!

Mario Badescu drying lotion. It’s a little expensive - $17. But trust me when I say it works overnight!

See if a dermatologist or plastic surgeon has a Cutera laser. They can zap it and it will be gone in 24 hours. It’s spot treatment so shouldn’t be too expensive.

Find a good spot treatment. A full face mask that you don't normally use could disrupt your whole face and cause you to breakout so be careful. GlamGlow makes a nice charcoal face mask that can be used as a spot treatment. They even have sample sizes at Sephora I believe, so you can try the spot treatment for free Smiley smile

Just stick to your normal routine other than that. You don't want to dry out your face and cause your face to produce more oil which will cause more acne.

    Oh and Breathe.

My acne has behaved nicely for me by doing the craziest thing: moisturizing!!!

I have SUPER oily skin (sounds like yours too) and basically oily skin is caused by your body making oils to keep it hydrated. Washing and toning it too much can dry it out MORE and cause MORE oil and pimples.

I've been using these two (just a little tiny bit, rub it all in and i often put too much so i rub for a long time and then blot with a towel)

i use this at night and on days i don't wear any makeup. This i apply generously and leave over night!5 days away from my wedding and acne has popped up! Help! 1I use this in the day time, just a little before my makeup5 days away from my wedding and acne has popped up! Help! 2

    Hopefully this helps!!
