Ok so in the past 2 yes I've gained 40 and it's making me nuts now that a wedding is a reality. The problem is I've been too happy and comfortable to card, but it isn't healthy at all.. I'm having an engagement party this Memorial Day & I want to wear a cute dress & be happy to be in photos again....

Ok so in the past 2 yes I've gained 40 and it's making me nuts now that a wedding is a reality. The problem is I've been too happy and comfortable to card, but it isn't healthy at all.. I'm having an engagement party this Memorial Day & I want to wear a cute dress & be happy to be in photos again. I'm not talking about diet pills or shots...just diet & exercise. I work 40-50 hrs a week in my fiance's pizza place & I'm a full time law student so extra long activities are hard to commit to. I know I have to stop all fried things & pizza & go back to the gym but I need some pointers and support/motivation. TIA girls :-)

I lost 50 lbs in a short period one time. Well I went from 256 lbs to 190 lbs in 3 months roughly. wow 66 lbs, but the thing was I was super depressed (my fiance had broken up with me to take up with my best friend at the time)....so I didn't really eat much for 3 months....wish I could do that again.

The biggest part of losing weight is a clean diet, but exercise will help you lose faster as well as being healthier. I had a male friend who lost 60lbs in 4 months after completely changing his lifestyle. Anything is possible and I am sure you will feel better if you lose even some of that weight!

Ummm eating just fruit and vegetables isn't exactly sustainable. Your body needs a balanced diet or else it will shut down since it doesnt have the nutrients it needs to function.

@Vicky - please take some of these comments with a grain of salt. Some of the posters have obviously not researched what they are suggesting, as it can be seriously detrimental to your health. It is downright scary.

I really can't believe that there are a few people on this post advocating for essentially starving yourself.

I think you should get the 40lbs in 2 months idea out of your head. It's not going to happen in 2 months unless you do something drastic. Do you want to look sick in your wedding photos? Focus on eating food that is good for your body and exercise a few times a week. Let the weight come off as it wants to. You will FEEL good and look better. Let that shine through in your pictures.

Edit to add- I see you said engagement party not wedding. Sorry!

First and for most, what is your current weight. Someone over 300 lbs will lose much faster then 180lbs.

A 300 lb person (like my mother) doing the same exercise as a 180 lb person (me) will lose more naturally. Will it be 40 lbs in two months? Probably not, but where as, if I am diligent, I may lose 16-20, my mother may lose 16-25 or maybe even 30 in the same span.

Realistically if you are really diligent, then listen to the other ladies and expect 16-20 at most. More then that is a health risk. Plus, if you lose too fast you will end up with extra skin! Which is unsightly and needs to be surgically removed.

By losing weight slowly the skin rebuilds it's elasticity, therefore the occurrence of loose skin is lessened.

Just take your time, and lose it properly.

There is a SERIOUS difference between "do-able" and "realistic/healthy."

As many of the girls have pointed out weight loss depends on SO MANY DIFFERENT FACTORS that are completely different for every individual.

Whatever you do, it's not worth putting yourself at risk.

Ok so it seems like I was being pretty crazy and unrealistic. I really appreciate everyone's comments, from the supportive to the warnings. I have no intention of starving myself & I am not going to do some crazy crash diet. I guess I wasn't thinking (kind of like when I think I'm starving, pile 30 things on a plate & only eat 5 and say ohh oops) and I overreached. I mean 40 would be ideal but obviously from what u ladies are saying there's not enough time to do that the right way.

I think going from not working out anymore to 5times a week & from pizza, wings, fries and chicken fingers to grilled chicken, salads, Greek yogurt, fruits and granola will make a big enough difference & then ill go from there. I guess I'm also hoping the first 15-20 will come off much easier than the rest because of how much I gained. But we'll see.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions & concern. If anyone else has input/suggestions for healthy changes they've made that worked for them, that would help too :-) I promise I won't go all extreme & nutty.

I wanted to lose about 25 before my wedding in June. I started in February and I have lost 18 doing atkins. I would say 25-30 is doable with atkins. Go on their website and they will send you a free packet, it includes 2 of their delicious bars, a little book that shows you what has carbs and the amount, and also a step by step booklet for a 3 phases. I have had great success on it and highly recommend it to anyone! If you have a fall off day, restart phase 1. Each phase is about 2 weeks, I re-do phase 1 all the time. Good luck to you!!

Also, its very inexpensive. My FH has what I eat, I just dont eat the sides ie: potatoes, bread, macaroni, etc. Salad, meat, cheese, lots of veggies!

@Vicky - I just posted this in another forum:

This is my absolute favorite recipe site: Gina's Skinny Taste. She takes regular food, and cuts the calories and makes it healthier in general. http://www.skinnytaste.com/

Also, it may be a struggle at first to not eat the junk food, but it WILL pay off. For sure. Try to drink water (no coffee, sodas, juices) and control your portion size. It is amazing how much larger American servings are than the actually recommended serving size.

If you want to try calorie counting, myfitnesspal.com is an awesome tool. They also have forums where people of all ages, shapes, and weights discuss tips, tricks, and motivational quips. Several of the girls on here are on there as well.

    Good luck!
