4 weddings on TLC

This is a wedding forum. Of course you're not the only one to watch wedding shows to get ideas! I find that show very addicting too!

I LOVE that show! I even tried to apply to be on the show. I couldn't find a recent casting call. That show has definitely made me rethink something for my wedding to ensure everyone enjoys themselves.

I try not to watch too many wedding shows because the occasional rude people make me so angry lol

I love this show!

I found it very interesting comparing what people did with the budgets they had.

I try to see all of the stuff that the girls complain about so I can avoid it. But I saw a beach wedding episode... and the girls complained that they had to walk in the sand. How else do you have a beach wedding?

I have it set to automatically record..lol

I enjoy watching it but I hate the idea of judging other people's weddings. They always put people on the same episode with opposite tastes.

That being said I like seeing what genuine issues they have like poor tasting/cold food awkward gaps, cash bars, stuff like that so I know what to avoid.

I love that show! But one thing that annoys me is that they will have someone with a budget of $10,000 going up against someone with a budget of $100,000. Well of course the higher budget wedding is going to be nicer.

I love that show! When I was having surgery, FH bought them all on itunes so I could watch while recovering! (then even watched most with me.. he pretended he wasn't into it, but then argued that blah blah shouldn't have won and "ooo look at the uplighting in that one)

It does annoy me that they don't level out the budgets and then the bigger budget brides often are penalised because "I don't know if it felt like a $50k wedding"

Have any of you seen the one where the grooms organise the weddings?

I watch it all the time even before my engagement

Mercedes I tried to apply too! Lol but yea there were no castings. But I don't think I could take the judgement over what I thought was an amazing day. I saw one episode where the girl cheated after she went to a great wedding and like called her coordinator from there to make her wedding better. She still didn't win. Lol

I've watched it. While I don't appreciate the opinion based criticisms like, "Oh, I don't really like the color of the orchids in that three foot centerpiece, so I'm taking off a point for that", or "I thought her gown should have more bling, so I'm taking off a point for that", there are some observations that are worth noting. Guests do not like dry weddings or cash bars. If you don't believe that, watch what the other three brides say when they go to walk away from the bar, glasses in hand, and the bartender yells, "Umm...ladies, that'll be $9.50 each!" (because what they say is exactly what your cash bar guests say). A tiny room for cocktail hour that guarantees you guests, if they're lucky, one drink in an hour -- but a hell of a lot of intrusion into their personal space -- is also worth taking seriously. A buffet wedding with one line for 150 guests is also a horrible idea -- and the three brides attending the wedding point that out.

So, skip the opinion stuff about centerpieces, gowns, color schemes, etc., and focus on hosting.

I love that show but dont get get caught up in the drama. Remember that your wedding is not about impressing your guests.

I hate it; I think it's an awful premise, and the OTHER three brides were terrible to mine. She had a small budget, but she catered it, had a full bar, and all the other elements that you truly need.

I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to any more scrutiny than they'll already get from their guests..

@Amber; it isn't about necessarily impressing them, but it IS about treating them well.

I love that show! The one thing me and FH noticed was that the person with the best food usually wins, so we kept that in mind choosing a venue. Also, what Centerpiece said. I hate what they take points off for.
