Savvy December 2019

3 months until the Wedding, no Wedding dress.

Sfam, on September 9, 2019 at 11:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I haven’t looked for any wedding dresses.. I don’t plan to look until The beginning of October because that’s when my mom wants to go buy the dress (she’s buying it for me) I wanted to go to David’s bridal.. but I’ve heard you have to order 6 months/a year before the wedding plus alterations.. We’re getting married in December, any advice on where to get a dress? That still looks like a beautiful wedding dress. I would’ve/ would love to wear a beautiful wedding dress. I want to look beautiful on our special day. I’ll give David’s bridal a try, but I’ve also been looking at LuLu’s website for white dresses too.

Call local bridal shops and see who offers the option to buy off the rack.

If you buy off the rack I believe they can accommodate a shorter timeline but you really would have to contact the individual stores on their ability to work with you

Our wedding is in a courtroom/chapel, still very formal & elegant/modern. And our “reception” is more of a family gathering party, no seating, just at FFIL’s house with food and snacks Smiley smile

(for the gathering/reception “party” I’ll be wearing another dress, I’ll be short yet elegant and formal)

I bought my dress from David's Bridal and it's only taking a month to come in. It just depends on the dress!

It definitely depends on the dress (regardless of where you go), but I'd consider calling boutiques to see what off the rack choices they have - whether they have things in your size, a decent selection, etc.

Check bridal shops for off the rack options. BHLDN also has great dresses online and a good return policy if you don’t like them. David’s bridal also has online dresses in stock and you can return if you don’t like them. I ordered lots of online dresses and sent back what I didn’t like.

Maybe also look for sample sales in your area?

We bought our dresses from a consignment store. In addition to saving money, that meant we could take them home the same day. And they have a much broader range of sizes than the samples available at regular bridal stores.

I got my first dress at David's bridal. It was the brand from David's bridal. It took 2 weeks to get to me. I heard other people day it took 2 weeks also for them. So maybe if you ask the consultant which brands get you your dress faster.

As PPs have said, check with local stores about buying off the rack. This will drastically limit your options, so I would try to convince your mom to go dress shopping ASAP. The longer you wait, the less options you’ll have.
