2nd wedding, veil?

B & K 2014, on July 3, 2014 at 11:39 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

I have been going back and forth about this. I know a lot of etiquette things say no veil on 2nd wedding.

Here's the deal... My first wedding was thrown together in 3 months, a JP did the ceremony and hardly any guests.

Now, My FH and I are very involved in our church, ceremony will be at the church and the whole shebang. A whole different group of people.

What are your thoughts on veils with a 2nd wedding. To me this is my first wedding with God/religion involved which is very important to us.

I wouldn't have a veil covering my face obviously, just attached to the back if I do it.

I think this is coming up because I have seen a lot of beautiful pics of mermaid/fit and flares with cathedral veils and it frames the dress beautifully.

Would something like this be too much for just the ceremony?

*** the picture is of the veil I am considering buying. my dress is in the comments. Smiley smile

I think that veil would be fine. I don't care if it's their hundredth wedding, I always prefer a bride with a veil.

That veil looks beautiful with your dress. 2nd wedding or not, I'd go for it.

Sidenote: Does your dress have a small train, or is bustled somehow that I can't quite see? I have a fit and flare gown but opted for a waltz length veil because I love my train. Your veil though, is seriously gorgeous.

Do the veil! I honestly, haven't heard of this rule about 2nd weddings. I love that veil! It is not too much!

My train isn't much of a train, so my veil will be my train. My veil is lonnnng!

Do the veil! Forget what your mom says-- there is no wedding veil cop that's going to pull off your veil because it's your 2nd wedding.

You have a lovely dress! I say go with whatever veil you like best. I hadn't even thought about a veil, but once I looked into it, I was hooked. My dress is pretty simple, so I feel my veil will help me feel more wedding-y.

So, I say go with what makes you happy.

B&K, I bought a veil on eBay for $2 with free shipping to use as a prop for some photos. Is it the best quality? No. It feels like very stiff mosquito netting. Did I know what I was getting for $2? Yep. Will it do it's job and photograph well? Absolutely.

Now, I'm not saying your quality will be bad, just giving you a warning of how it could possibly turn out. =)

I hadn't heard of it being a breach of etiquette, so I wore a veil at my recent 2nd wedding! I've posted before but I had a good experience buying a new veil from China on ebay. The seller was jwiyc and I only paid $12.99 for an ivory veil with lace trim. The comb part was plastic (I thought it would be metal) but no one could see that part anyway.

I bought a veil and ended up skipping it altogether and I wore three orchids in my hair instead. Personally I think the cathedral veils are a bit over the top and covers the dress but that's just a personal preference. Do what makes you happy and what you feel good in. I will admit that the second marriage not wearing a veil was a thought in the back of my head that may have helped make my decision but I just couldn't see both the flowers and the veil.

I think you can do it whichever way you prefer. I'm getting married for the 2nd time and not wearing a veil (I did wear one the first time), but it's just because it's my preference right now. I feel silly when I put them on, but I think they look wonderful on everyone else.

I think the veil looks beautiful. It is personal preference. This will be my second wedding, and I have chosen a headpiece without a veil. The only reason for my decision is that we are being married in a beach and forgoing the veil is easier.
