2022 and 2023 Weddings any major fears before wedding date?

Bridget, on April 9, 2022 at 7:54 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20
Any wedding fears? I have many. Fear that no one will show up at the venue. Nothing going right on the wedding day. Becoming pregnant and being heavily pregnant. Not fitting into my dress. New pandemic. Breaking a leg etc. so many anxieties are building. Am I the only one?

Mine is in 5 weeks. Things are moving along smoothly, but I worry that my sister will catch COVID at the last minute and not be able to come. She works in a hospital overseas and will have to fly in a few days before the wedding.

Oh yeah, I get anxious all the time. Really just have to learn to quiet your mind. Can't dwell on that stuff!

Yes so many! Fear no one will drive 4 hours or that I will get sick before the wedding or forget something. It’s certainly nerve wracking!

Have people been RSVPing? Or is it still too early? I sent a save the date text and spoke to those outside of my perimeter and got a verbal RSVP which kind of helps a bit

OMG thats another fear! His family lives so far away and I fear not many will show up. I want it to be a family affair not just my friends and family. Yes I want to fit into my dress too lol.

Thats a hard one. Hopefully she continues to protect herself, drinks a lot of water, wears her mask, all the hygienic stuff. Takes vitamins and Lysin, etc. I wonder what areas still have a prevalent COVID case right now. I work in the hospital, though in the USA and haven't seen much COVID cases since Jan-Feb this year.

I am trying to stay as calm and cool about it. We're going to be as ready as we'll be. The only piece I want to make sure I get right is when I walk down the aisle, I don't stumble or trip haha.

2023 wedding here, and yeah, I struggle at times with "oh my God what if?" FH's mom is 99 - total dementia- so the concern is her passing too close to the wedding day. (She is in NY, we are in Florida, so total chaos if this happens) Most of our guests will be flying in for the wedding, and SO many have constantly told me they already have the date marked and will definitely come ...... and that makes me worry that they will suddenly change their mind and NOT come, which will be a huge let down for me. The other stuff I worry about is really kinda minor, so I can quiet my mind a lot of times, but those two things really give me anxiety.

If anything these past 2 years have taught us, we have little control over anything. It's important to have a plan B and maybe even C (for weather, pandemics, inflation, etc.). More importantly, wedding insurance can ease some of the anxiety with the "what ifs".

So we sent save the dates a year out since everyone has to travel. We won’t send out formal invites until 2 months before. We’re 6 months out and I’m about to make “wedding reminders” to send out to remind certain people of the wedding and to let them know of our hotel room block and to look out for our formal invites in a few months. We are only inviting about 60 people. So far verbally his two cousins and their husbands, his aunt and uncle and his grandparents are coming. My two friends and their SOs are coming, his small friend group and their SOs said they’re coming. And my grandparents. So probably about half the guest list has verbally given an RSVP. It’s mostly my family I’m worried about showing 😬

Omg that is worrisome. First off, amazing age for your mom. 99! whoah! Sorry for the dementia. I can only imagine. We need to find coping skills for the major anxieties.

Ours is in September. My current fear is that one of my bridesmaids (who doesn't have a lot of extra money) won't end up making it (she has to fly). Another is that my sister (another bridesmaid) who is having a baby in May won't make it for some reason. My FH's parents are going through a separation/divorce so another HUGE fear is that something happens between them at the wedding.

My mom LOVES to tell me that since the wedding is out of state there probably won't be many people there 🙄 We just sent out save the dates and plenty of people have said they were planning to be there, but the constant negativity gets to me sometimes. Other than that, there's always a looming fear of COVID spiking and having to postpone (AGAIN!).

I worry more about breaking my leg or getting injured playing tennis and wouldn’t be able to walk down the aisle. I think that that would be a whole nightmare. So for the next 45 days I’m staying put😂

Yes one of my anxieties are people not showing up because of how gar it is from the city. People brining extra people who wasn't invited. Not having enough money for certain things. A lot!!

I'm afraid that since my parents are paying for the wedding and are insisting on making things a lot bigger and more formal than my FH and I originally planned that people will think I'm trying too hard or his friends will think the wedding does not reflect my FH enough. Kind of silly but... that's where I'm at hahaha

My fear is not having everything set up on time. I have planned and have done everything myself (to avoid conflict & stress, stuff not being done the way I want, and too many opinions) so the day of I need to trust everyone else to execute everything in 1.5 hours since the venue has another small event happening that morning. They assured me it would be super fast, but it is honestly my biggest fear for now. I am the type to have everything presentable before guests arrive at my home (dinners, bbqs, parties) so if it’s not done I’m definitely throwing a whole fit. (I think I’ve earned at least that since I haven’t bothered anyone for anything this entire time)
