2021 wedding

on June 12, 2020 at 11:31 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
Hi ladies! So my sister-in-law just got engaged and I am a bridesmaid in the wedding. She is planning a spring 2021 wedding and I am slightly concerned because with the current situation in the world, we are not sure if she will be able to have a bridal shower, bachelorette party, take engagement photos etc. As someone who went through the postponement saga (and have yet to actually be able to have our wedding) I guess I just wouldnt wish the stress of planning through Coronavirus on anyone. She’s asked my advice but I said its her decision and the possibility of not having those events doesnt seem to be bothering her yet. Do you think a spring 2021 wedding is a good idea or will there be a lot of problems that will come with it?

Honestly, none of us know any more than you do. If people continue to treat the pandemic like a joke as they currently are, there will be a second wave and likely even a third wave in the spring, but there is no predicting the future.

Honestly i think it's ok to keep planning. i mean, of course there's no guarantee of what will happen for anything but you can't always push life off just because of uncertainty. life goes on, things still need to happen, etc. i think it's ok for her to keep planning for a spring 2021 wedding and for her bridesmaids to still plan for a bachelorette and shower early next year.

my bff is getting married sept of this year and we are still planning her bachelorette and shower for august - we know that there might be a slight chance that things can't happen but we are still going to plan for it anyway because well... we don't know that they can't not happen either.

True...I guess we can plan her events for February or March. My wedding is in August and Ive considered postponing that and my honeymoon just because the uncertainty is bothering me so much so I guess its just my personal experience that Im projecting onto her a little lol

I actually think most restrictions, especially if it's an outdoor spring wedding, will be lifted in time, so she should be fine. Ours is 2/14/21, and we're moving full steam ahead, but we're also having a very small wedding to start with, so we may be "lucky" in avoiding some of the issues in the first place with our smaller guest list. There’s no way to know for sure, but I’d maybe think about outdoor events, plan backup virtual events (you CAN do a virtual bridal shower, even though it’s not ideal). For engagement photos, as long as they do them outdoors I can’t imagine that being an issue. I don’t think our photographers ever came closer than 6 feet to us anyway lol. And if it’s outdoors, and the photographer wore a mask, that at least would be fine.

I would tell any bride, if you can wait until things settle down: wait! This is so stressful and hard. I would not wish it on anyone.

If she is set on a Spring 2021 then I would advise for her to start booking vendors now.

I know some of our vendors are fully booked for Spring 2021 because of the postponements.
