has anyone done anything more than pick a date colors.
i want to do it now but not wanting to second guess myself. I like planning things But I tend to get overwhelmed

I got engaged in October 2017 and will be married May 2020. Long engagements are the best! You can start doing most things early! If you're someone who gets overwhelmed then the long engagement is perfect. Start with a budget; have hard money conversations with anyone you think might like to help you financially (and also your fiance!!). Then get a rough estimate on the number of guests. Then start venue searching! You might find the venue you want doesn't book this far out, but this way you can be the first person calling them when they do start booking!

If you start to get overwhelmed, just stop wedding planning for a little bit, until the feeling passes. That is the BEST part about taking a long engagement is to have the luxury of taking as many breaks as you need.

We set a budget, chose a venue, but haven’t put a down payment on it yet and started gathering ideas.

We were actually first planning on getting married in 2020, but felt the Lord telling us we weren’t emotionally ready for marriage yet (we’re both pretty young), so we pushed it back until 2021.

Over the last 6 months, we’ve thought about a lot of wedding details. We’ve had budget conversations and done research of the average prices of the things we’re interested in, so we have a rough estimate of how much we think we’ll have to spend (6-10k).

We’ve looked at and reached out to photographers and found our top candidates, so we know who to reach out to again when the time comes to hire.

We’ve actually planned out our entire honeymoon already haha, but we might make some changes as time goes on.

We have made several guest lists: one with every single person we’d like to invite (over 200 people), and other lists with the essential people, with the essentials and other close friends and family, with essentials and other close friends and people who asked if they could be invited, etc. These lists have already changed so much, but we have a general idea of how many people to invite, and we also have an idea of how large a venue we should look for.

We’ve done some research on venues at different price points in our location, and made notes about what we like and don’t like.

I’ve looked at wedding dresses and found several bridal stores near me. I’ve also established my general styles and interests in wedding gowns.

So yeah, basically just a bunch of research Smiley smile

Yes girl! Same boat as you! but I recently decided to hired a virtual wedding planner because i was so stressed and confused (75% cheaper than a regular wedding planner). Seriously the best decision i made

I’m getting married 3/20/21. I got engaged in April. I’ll be picking my dress hopefully within the next 12 weeks. I’ve been to 3 bridal shops already. I just haven’t found the one ...
im trying to find a venue. I wanted a destination wedding in FL , now I’m thinking more the Carolinas. I’m all over the place. Mostly because I can’t find what I want within my budget I JUST changed my wedding colors last minute when we’ve been set on them since before I was engaged 😭😂 and I’ll be putting a deposit down on a venue hopefully within the next 12 weeks as well. Because I want to send out save the dates in January. .
We have engagement pics in 3.5weeks! And so far that’s it. I did send my bridesmaid boxes and set up my bachelorette party next October in Disney. (My bridesmaid actually did lol).
