2021 Brides - How are we feeling?!

It's finally 2021 - and I personally am so excited because it's finally our wedding year! I have been with my fiancé, Rob, for 9 1/2 years (this year makes 10 years) and to say I have been waiting a long time for this is an understatement! We're getting married October 8 - and with the pandemic...

It's finally 2021 - and I personally am so excited because it's finally our wedding year! I have been with my fiancé, Rob, for 9 1/2 years (this year makes 10 years) and to say I have been waiting a long time for this is an understatement!

We're getting married October 8 - and with the pandemic happening I know this year is still very much up in the air on events, so let's talk! Any of you postponing? Any of you postponing again after postponing from 2020? How many of you are able to still keep your wedding plans as is?

YAY for wedding twins!!!! I love the idea of an indoor/outdoor venue, we have huge windows that can open up at our venue but in AZ it might still be way too hot during October!

It's great when everyone that is invited already know that anything could happen so I feel that makes it a lot easier to handle the logistics with guests. I hope everything works out for you!!

We were engaged for nearly 2 years and we were originally going to get married in September 2020 then postponed to May 16th. Our guest count even for the original was 50 and we are still getting married on May 16th regardless as we fear there will be more competition for dates come fall.

I’m all outdoors too in April. We are struggling to come up with a good number of guest, we cut ours too. How many are you thinking you will invite?

We’re set to get married October 29 and we were really only planning on a 100 ish person wedding so even if there are still some restrictions we should be okay. There’s still a lot of uncertainty though so I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye on everything.

Also, am I the only one like this? I was super excited to plan our wedding but since everything is so unknown still about when we can expect things to “return to normal”, it’s kind of put a damper on my planning. I’m having to force myself to get things done because I have this voice in the back of my head saying “well, why bother you might have to cancel/postpone”. Maybe I’m just totally pessimistic because I’m over the current situation but I can’t be the only one!

Our venue can accommodate 300 so thankfully whatever size group we have will be able to spread out if needed. We’ll see when it’s closer but the most we’ll invite is 120, if we need to cut the guest list we’d probably do half that.

Hi Aimee - Congrats! Date twin here :-) My fiancé and I moved our July ‘20 wedding to June 5 and are in the same mindset. We’re doing this, scaled down if needed, and we’ll enter into the next chapter of our life after 7 years of being together - almost 3 engaged! Best wishes to you and yours!

Hi Lady! Congratulations! Yes, postponing again...our’s was October 3rd, 2020, then we rescheduled for a minimony on October 2nd, 2020 (legally married now) and wanted to have a vow renewal & celebration with our original guest list, which we planned on doing in May 2021...however given the current COVID climate we are considering postponing again. It’s crazy how things are going, but we’re pretty flexible at this point and our vendors have been pretty gracious. I’m hoping that we can have the vow renewal and celebration on /around our anniversary date in 2021.

Congrats!! We’ve been engaged for a little over a year, together for almost 8 years. Honestly, tired of waiting, ready to just go ahead as planned but with a smaller crowd. Originally planned for 130 guests, looking at 60 now. Wedding is January 30th, 2021!

No, I’m April 3 2021, and it’s been the same for me too. Every time I try and get excited again, someone brings up how deadly Covid is, and I go down a downer rabbit hole. I am super behind in planning because it’s just depressing.
We are coming to the reality that things are going to be different, and I’m trying to focus on the silver linings.
Thoughts that helped me are: -Cheaper wedding-Less people to worry about with favors, etc. mask could be a funny photo op. (I am ordering custom mask with the out date and names on them.) -The man is perfect so oh well to a”perfect wedding” -Excuse to not spend extra on a DJ for a dance floor. I know these are kind of silly, but you still have quite a bit of time, and you may be lucky in October. Plan as normal, but expect to at things may be a little different. Even if you do postpone you will have a clearer picture for the next new date. Hope that helps, I know this sucks, it’s beyond stressful.

I’ll have been with my fiancé for 11 years this V-Day so I know what you mean lol. We got engaged July 2020 and originally we’re planning for a Nov 2021 wedding. However due to Covid, we have decided to downsize from 150-200 guests to just 30 👀. As a result of how small our wedding will be we also decided to move our date up to May/June 2021 (pending venue availability). Yikes!! I have so much to do in so little time but I’m super excited!

    Congratulations.

My fiancé and I have been together since high school. We got engaged December 2018. Our wedding year was 2021 from the beginning which was a great decision in the long run due to the pandemic. we did change venues and the size of our wedding as soon as we came to the realization that we may lose funds if we waited too long. Our wedding date is April 15th and the wedding venue is working with us. If we have to decrease in size shortly before things will adjust but I promise I will be getting married anyway. Ive waited 11 years for this day and it could be just me, my fiancé and the officiate and I would still be satisfied.

I am getting married on April 4 with 28 guests so 30 of us total. Current limit is 10 whether inside or outside. I’ve heard my venue has done some things like splitting the reception into two rooms to accommodate the guest number and also abide by regulations for COVID. Has anyone thought of doing something similar?
