2021 and 2022 weddings what's your wedding budget? Are you in budget or over/under?

Bridget, on April 9, 2022 at 5:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 44

Mine is 20K but I think I'm going over that budget.

We don't really have a budget as we are splitting costs with both sets of parents. Each of us is paying what we feel comfortable with. Our parents are covering the food and drinks which is the biggest expense, and I think things are a bit under their expected total because we've gotten more declines than we expected.

We didn't really have a set upper limit, but we definitely didn't want to spend on an extravagant too expensive wedding. I think altogether our estimated budget was 15K-20K. Our parents helped a bit with some of the payment costs for the venue but other than that, we pretty much paid for everything, and we split up the costs for each venue payment, wedding dessert cost. My parents are paying for the DJ cost and my grandmother is paying a good portion of the photographer cost and we only have to pay a smaller chunk of the total. We each paid for our own wedding attire.

Hey Bridget! I started with a budget around that price too and realized quickly that would not work for the city I'm in/the size of my wedding. Definitely do some research on the average cost of a wedding in your area. But also research, research, and research vendors! There is always a cost effective alternative. You just have to dig and dig sometimes (also might need to get a referral from a vendor you have booked. Sometimes they have preferred vendors list which is SO helpful)

We didn’t have a budget. However I definitely had a range in mind. We have exceeded that range profoundly.

Same here! We never really set a budget, but we had a general idea of a range we’d like to stay in. We have nearly doubled that 🤦🏼‍♀️

We were right on budget, but we started the planning process, then based our budget around expected costs after knowing what our area costs were

My budget was 15k and we ended up at 30k 😬 luckily we are getting some help from my parents and we already know a chunk of money we’re getting from family for gifts at the wedding to help pay off whatever we can’t come up with ourselves

Wow that is amazing that the parents are financially able to support the heaviest costs. Drinks and food are very expensive. Unfortunately me and my fiances fathers are past and mothers are not in a place to financially help. Hoping to make the funds from wedding gifts. But great plan! You've gotten more declines? Like the guest list?

I did do research. I was trying to be less than the average but did not work for sure. Yes my venue has vendors that prefer using and if I dont use the I pay a hefty fee. Boo! So ultimately I have to use them. My problem is catering because they have a list of only 6 caterers and I need to include certain dishes they do not carry.

Hmmmm. Maybe talk to the venue and let them know! They might be able to work something out!
