2 rounds of invites?

Jennifer, on May 15, 2012 at 2:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Let me first start with we are really limited on space for this wedding. We are having the reception at a restaraunt and we can have no more then 70 people including us....

The wedding is August 25th and we are thinking of sending invitations out on June 23rd and requesting RSVPs be back no later then July 28th... Then once we have a count from immediate family sending out another round of invites on July 30th and requesting they be back by August 15th....

Has anyone else done this? What do you think about doing it this way?

I've heard of people doing A & B lists invited like that. Perhaps rather than waiting (and only giving people two weeks to reply), you can send out B list invites as you start receiving declines. You can also send out the A list invites a little earlier, with a slightly earlier RSVP so you give B list a little bit more time.

I am planning on doing this but doing as Reenski said mailing off B'list as soon as I get the declines and giving and sending out A'list almost obnoxiously early with a good amount of time to RSVP but enough time so as not to rush or insult B'list

We are doing this for the ceremony. We have 30 spots, so if people from the first list can't attend, we will invite more to the ceremony. Everyone is invited to our reception. =)

I think you are fine! You could even change your dates just a little...

    .

You could even go to the post office June 15, that is 10 weeks before the wedding. They will get them in the mail by June 20th.

A-list RSVP July 16th (you should get most back by the 20th) and send out B-list as soon as you get a "no"

B-List - send out July 16th with rsvp of August 15... that way both A and B list both have 4 weeks to reply.

Thank you all sooo much and I'm glad I'm not the only one doing this I felt guilty or like I was going to be being rude by doing it this way. Of course if it goes seamlessly none of the guests will know!
