2 godmothers 5 bridesmaids need your dress opinion

Ana, on September 11, 2014 at 1:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

So I been back and forth with this dilemma. Fell in love with two different dresses and colors. They are also from different designers so matching the exact colots are pretty impossible. So my question is would it look terrible to have my godmothers wear a different dress as well as a different blue from my bridesmaids? The colors are marine blue for my godmothers and blue topaz for my bridesmaids. I love blue and to me doesn't make a difference but how bad will it look? Opinions?

Are your godmothers standing next to your bridesmaids? If they aren't then I would not worry about the color difference if they are even then I would not worry because the only ones that should be coordinating are you bridesmaids.

I'm confused. Are your godmothers just guests? If so, they can wear what they'd like and you can't dictate that. If they are part of your wedding party then you can decide if it works out. My ladies will most likely be in varying shades of forest green in varying dresses. I prefer a mixed look and really dislike the match-y match-y thing.

I guess its a little confusing, instead of maid of honors I'm having godmothers its really the same function as moh. And they will be next to bm in pictures. And up at the alter with me and my handsome finance. Hope that answers everyone's confusion; also thank you for opinions so far.

So yes, If they are in your bridal party you get to pick what you like best. so if you don't mind a little mix and match, differing shades of blue is fine. I even prefer a mixed up party.

If you don't mind that they won't exactly match then it shouldn't be a problem. My cousin's BMs all wore different shades of blue.

If this is Marine Blue from DB, and Blue Topaz from Watters, I really don't see them working well together - there's a huge difference in the tones. I'd think you'd do better with Marine Blue from DB with, again, assuming it was Watters, Lagoon, Sky, or Periwinkle. Marine Blue has a touch of green, but I think it pairs better with something that has a big of gray in it, IMO. If you're talking about a different vendor, then if you share the vendors that would help!

Note: to look at the Watters colors, I went to: http://watters.com/Product/WtooDresses/491/, and picked "View All Colors" link.

For David's, I used http://www.davidsbridal.com/Resource_Style-Fashion-Guide-Color-Coordination-Color-Palette?contentName=/Left_Nav/Style_and_Fashion_Guide/Color_Inspiration/color_palette to view the color palette.
