2 day nyc wedding?

Williams, on March 18, 2020 at 11:08 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 2
Hello!

New here! I was wondering if anyone has does a 2 day NYC Wedding. Day 1 small intimate ceremony with just immediate family. Day 2 huge party , buy out a club/cocktail party.
We wanted a very small intimate ceremony (20 people) and then have a huge fun party the next day. Just like any regular party only that we would be celebrating our union & we’re paying for everyone’s drinks but I can’t seem to find anyone who’s done anything like this.
We don’t want gifts from people, we’re not doing a registry we just want everyone to have fun but don’t want a sit down dinner & feel like if we invite them to the ceremony we need to provide a sit down dinner which is why we want to divide it to 2 days
Thoughts ?

    Congrats and welcome!

There are lots of ways to celebrate with people without doing a sit-down dinner. There are cake-and-punch receptions, brunch receptions, or just parties like yours.

The thing with NYC is ... cost. EVERYTHING is going to cost more, and, in particular, renting out a club could get kinda bananas. Renting a small space and hiring a DJ might actually be less.

Do you have a budget? A particular type of venue you're looking for?

The more information you have, the more we can help you!

Thank you for your reply! We don’t have a set budget bc we don’t know anything about weddings. We wanted to set aside about 20K just for the party not sure if that would be enough. For the ceremony it’s going to be in our church in the upper east side, then lunch at one of our fav residents.

For the party the next day, We looked into places like The Jane Hotel Ballroom to rent out. It’s already really pretty so no decorations would be needed. I was wondering how our guests would feel being invited to only the party & not the ceremony.
Also we wanted to do a brunch party bc we wanted to get married Saturday & celebrate Sunday but don’t want it to be too late for our guests.
