2 Bridesmaids and 3 Groomsmen-That is the Question?

Mrs. Hawkins, on March 15, 2013 at 8:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

Hi Ladies, I need your advice!! My bridal party was to consist of 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsman. Yesterday, I receive a call from one of bridesmaids that she needs to drop out due to financial reasons. I understand her issue, but we are 3 months away from the wedding and I am concerned that it is too late to ask someone else to replace her.

I have a plan in mind to make it work with 2 bridesmaids and 3 groomsman, but would like to you know what you think of an odd number of attendants.

We have 6 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen. You will find that there are quiet a few other brides who have uneven bridal parties. I don't think it matters a whole lot the number. What matters is the relationship you have with the people you are choosing to stand up with you. :-)

We have 6 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen... my best friend *male* is in the Air Force and JUST returned home from Afghanistan... with his deployment it was a "hope i can be home" type situation... now that he IS able to come home... he'll be our 7th guy.. I'm not too worried about the odd number. I'm having him stand in front with FH and his best man at the beginning. And since my god daughter is doing a reading at the ceremony, i'm just having them exit together Smiley smile

I wouldn't worry about it! It seems like a lot of people are having uneven bridal parties these days. Ours was going to be 8 guys and 7 girls, unfortunatly our best man got deployed to Afghan and now it will be even but it wasn't originally going to be!

Yep, no worries, one lady will just have to have 2 guys escort her down the aisle, poor thing! We have 3 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen in our wedding party.

    We had an odd number.

I suggest having the best man wait at the front with the groom and the two groomsmen walk down with your ladies

I have one BM and 2 GM and I'm leaving it like that. Better to have an uneven amount of people that really want to be involved than adding someone to the BP just to make it even.

I see it all the time. One of my couples had, (hold on to your bloomers....) 15 groomsmen and 7 bridesmaids......It was kinda fun actually. I talked about it in the ceremony script!

I currently have 7 BM (don't think that will change) & 4 GM (which I'm assuming will change to 7 GM), but (if not) we have talked to change things up quite a bit: maybe have a BM walk by herself, 2 GM together, 1 GM & 2 BM, 2 BM, just make the whole thing less traditional as possible. Heck we have even thought about having my now 4 year old daughter walk down the isle to Pussycat Dolls "When I grow Up" even though I hate that song....I think it would just add to the mix of an unpredictable wedding, which is what we are going for.

YOUR possibilites are ENDLESS Smiley winking

I was in a wedding where a girl dropped out last minute.

the guys were all up front already or ushering? at the church and the girls walked up alone. i think the way back the BM walked alone.

at the reception, i walked in w/ 2 guys.

You can't control the gender of the people who mean the most to you. Most of my weddings have odd numbers.

No one sits in the audience and counts. Most of the time when we have one more guy then gals we give him an extra job. He goes down the aisle row by row and releases the guests.
