19 Day til my wedding

Carlos, on March 15, 2020 at 11:02 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
I’m freaking out over the Coronavirus... I’m getting married on 04/04/2020 and some of our guest are cancelling... our venue won’t reschedule, if we cancel we have to pay full price for our venue since our wedding is so close. As a gay man I never thought the day would come where I would actually be able to be married, then marriage was legalized and I found my perfect half. I’ve planned for my wedding for a year and a half, making sure that I stay on top of things and that no detail is missed. Our honeymoon to Spain had to be cancelled... we are still moving forward with the wedding with whoever can show up... but will the courthouse be open so we can get our marriage license? Every day that goes by I panic even more and I feel like I have no one that understands my concerns and fears. My fiancé keeps saying it’ll be ok and we’ll figure it out. I’m freaking out!!!

Hi! My wedding is 4/3/20 and I’m in a similar situation. I don’t know yet if I can even postpone but for now we’re planning to continue as planned with the realization there might be less people. I’ve disconnected from watching the news the past two days and it has really helped me not be in panic mode 100%. I definitely recommend disconnecting when you can. I had my final dress fitting on Friday and decided to myself I look too good in my dress to cancel. 🥰 Try to find moment like that to keep positivity going. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!! 🤞🤞

Try to get your license soon!!! Like tomorrow soon if possible! And at the end of the day if it's just you and your fiance it will still be the absolute best day ever because you are marrying the man meant for you! Good luck, I hope this stress doesnt kill us all 😂

Phew! Deep breaths. I'm so sorry you're going through this - it's definitely a troubling time for everyone. We were also scheduled for 4/4, but key people couldn't make it and the venue graciously allowed us to move our date. I'm sending you all the good vibes - its sucks because you've probably been planning this forever. It sucks because you're ready and it's not how you planned. But you will be married.

    Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for the good wishes. Great advice on disconnecting from the news... I think hearing about it is making me even more paranoid and anxious.

I hope your day is filled with love, health and that everything runs smoothly!

    Wishing you the best,

    Carlos

Our wedding is on 4/5 and so far no one has cancelled but it's already a pretty small affair with 63 guests.

I am expecting about 10-15 to back out in the next 2-3 weeks.

My vendors are on board. They're probably losing business left and right so are happy I'm sticking with the plan.

I picked up wedding band on Friday, my escort cards arrived yesterday, and I'm finishing up the last of the crocheted yarmulkes (it's been quite the endeavor making them myself).

Same date and I'm freaking out over the marriage licence deal also. We cant just rush and get them because our officiant has to get a paper notorized where we did premarital couseling and his mother just died so, we cant really rush him.

Getting married on 4/4 as well in DC. Definitely feeling the same anxiety. My partner and I have decided that we're going to get married that day no matter what. So far, our venue is continuing to go forward with all private events. We are trying to maintain optimism, but we did send an email out to our guests informing them that the wedding is still on and that they should consult their physicians about whether they should attend the wedding if they believe themselves vulnerable. For now, all of our vendors are still on board as well. Good luck to you, hang in there!

I’m not sure where you’re getting married. I just checked the website for obtaining marriage licenses and it looks like they’re doing them by appointment only. At least that’s how they’re doing it in my area. Fill out the form, email to request an appointment and wait to hear back from them.
I’d suggest checking on it... maybe think about doing this yourself, if you’re able to do so.

Best of luck! Sending positive vibes!

Unfortantly that are not offering that here. However. I did fill out an application online so all we have to do is go and show Id and give them the paper. But were getting married that day reguardless. Even if we cant legalize it until afterwards.
