10k Dress? What's it look like?

We see it all the time on TV. Has anyone (other than me) spent 10k+ on a wedding dress? Has anyone (other than me) spent 10k+ on a wedding dress? It never would have happened if my Stepdad hadn't surprised me, (he insisted that it would be for my dream dress only, no other allocation allowed, and insisted on facetiming when I went shopping in nyc) so I'm incredibly lucky but, has anyone spent even close to that amount??

I've been surprised on WW so far at how so many women on here have gotten beautiful dresses at such amazing prices!

Do you (or someone you know) have a dress that's close to or exceeds that amount? If so, can you post a pic? Is it just the complexity/quality of the fabric? Is it brand recognition?

I'll reveal my numbers and pics if anyone else does. I'm kind of embarrassed/feeling guilty.

LOVE Vera Wang!! And the lavender, omg!! Smiley love If I had the money, I would go for it. Haven’t gone dress shopping yet, but would love to spend 5k, if I can. Don’t feel bad on what was spent, it was a gift, and also no ones business! Own it, girl!

LOL right!!! I was reading some of these replies and it’s great they got their dresses for such good deals but jeez she wasn’t asking for people to make her feel worse. Like, so what if your whole wedding was less than 10k? Mine was less than 15k but I’m still happy for her. That’s great for those people but this is a different wedding. Just let the girl feel good about her WEDDING DRESS for crying out loud.

Thank you for this. I was feeling a little down after the post. But you guys have made me feel really good about it. I do love it, too. And I'll be taking pictures in nature a month or so after the wedding so I'll be wearing it again

Girl I know how you feel, I’ve made posts on WW looking for serious help and I’ve had people come at me for it. I hope you love your dress like crazy! Do not feel bad about it. Do not let other people’s opinions bring you down because most of the time they are just jealous. Congratulations to you and I hope you wedding is BEAUTIFUL!

I feel like you were asking for some serious support and it just turned into a “oh this is my dress!” post 😂 Don’t get me wrong I love those posts but not the right one to share in.

I can’t show you pics just yet. Just ordered less than 24 hours ago and it doesn’t exist. We custom made it because my personality is too wild for one dress. So we took 4 pieces from 4 different dresses. Came in at about 6k. That was with tax and the veil, which was also made from three different veils and royal cathedral in length.

So at my first dress appointment yesterday I cringed as I wrote down 3k for my budget. It was doable but I really did not want to spend that much. My dress was 2100( almost 2300 with tax) and will hopefully be under 3k with alterations and accessories! When I cried, my sister and maid of honor cried, and I didn’t want to take it off I knew it was the one!

    Gorgeous dresses ladies!!

So in support, don’t feel guilty! You didn’t go begging it was offered! I’m sure your step dad felt like you more than deserved it or he wouldn’t have! I would have taken that offer and ran straight to Kleinfelds! My “step-dad” paid for mine too and he wasn’t even here to see it! I was prepared to pay but my mom cut me off and swiped first when it was time to pay. Then I saw his name on the signature line. Total tears!

Your dress is gorgeous!! I think the quality, fabric, design, and designer name really dictate the price. I didn’t have a budget and knew I wanted a non white lace dress. I ended up getting mine for $2,500 pre alterations. My dress is currently being altered, so I’m not sure how much those will cost, but given the lace detail at the bottom, I’m a little scared to see the bill.

Amen to this!! OP, I am so jealous of you and wish I would have the chance to wear a $10k dress. Mine would be one of Rosa Clara’s gorgeous creations.

So...while I'm enjoying seeing everyone's dress...this post seems to have spiraled completely. I was just asking to see if someone was going to post pictures of their 10k+ dresses or if they were going to comment on what they thought made the price difference. It has kinda turned into a "oh wow, I could never do that" shaming/sharing thread, and that's kind of not what I was asking about.

It wasn't supposed to be a bragging post, I legitimately wanted to see if there were differences in fabrication, etc, based on price.

I appreciate the support from the ladies who are telling me to enjoy my (extremely generous) gift, though!

Anyway, thank you everyone, for posting.

Sorry your thread got unraveled! I was hoping to see some 10k dresses too.
I will chime in with quality difference. I’ve looked at wedding dresses for a pretty long time since I was planning my wedding a long time ago. You don’t start hitting silk fabrics until the $2000ish retail price for a salon dress. The structure and lining of the dresses is better made, even the underskirts are typically silk. $4500+ range you start seeing those jewel encrusted beauties and the more intricate lace, finer fabrics imported from italy and france, real pearls, ect. $10,000-$12,000 you get into the hand sewn dresses with swavroski crystals, the heavily beaded import lace and the show stoppers like hand painted silk.
I think beautiful dresses are found at every price point, I’ve loved dresses literally in every range because the designs were all unique but there’s definitely a quality difference in wedding dresses, just like steak or anything else in the world we buy.

Don’t let anyone make you feel bad hun. If I had 10k for my dress I’d fly to france right now and buy it!
