10k Dress? What's it look like?

We see it all the time on TV.


Has anyone (other than me) spent 10k+ on a wedding dress? It never would have happened if my Stepdad hadn't surprised me, (he insisted that it would be for my dream dress only, no other allocation allowed, and insisted on facetiming when I went shopping in nyc) so I'm incredibly lucky but, has anyone spent even close to that amount??


I've been surprised on WW so far at how so many women on here have gotten beautiful dresses at such amazing prices!

Do you (or someone you know) have a dress that's close to or exceeds that amount? If so, can you post a pic? Is it just the complexity/quality of the fabric? Is it brand recognition?

I'll reveal my numbers and pics if anyone else does. I'm kind of embarrassed/feeling guilty.

    Hi there! I feel you here, I actually have 2 wedding dresses and each were about $4-5,000. I think it is the fabric and fluidity of the dresses that sets them apart. I think even though the guest may not be able to tell the difference, the bride does in the way she can twirl and how well they photograph! Also — mine are SOOO comfortable and light feeling.     Soooooooooo beautiful! So you're wearing the blingy ballgown at the reception and the lace at the ceremony?

    I'm a sucker for lace so I'm drooling. So jealous of your body, lol

    And I noticed that the dress is SUPER light and comfortable when I tried it on, so that makes sense.

    You both have lovely dresses!

    I was wondering about the same thing myself. After watching the wedding shows on TV so much, I assumed it was designer name and quality.

    (I didn't spend anywhere near $10k, but my dress makes me feel like royalty, so I'm going with it! It's a Martin Thornburg, and I'm in love with all of his gowns.)

    Lucky you ! My budget was $5,000 and I didnt get anywhere close to it. And when my mother in law asked me how much I spent and I told her she said “no way it looks like a $10,000 dress” so im glad it looks like that but its definitely not

    Mine wasn't that much ($1,700) but it has lots of lace!! The lavender is so unique!! Its gorgeous on you!!

    Not us! Our entire wedding was $10,000--and that included two wedding dresses (one for each of us).
