I’m getting a dress my size but I’m sure will need hemming and minor take in’s from the sides. Is it ok to start 3-4 weeks before my wedding? What’s the cut off before they charge rush fees?

I found a dress that I really liked. However my wedding is in 3 months. I can either 1) buy the sample off the rack and alter it or 2) order a new one custom to my size and height. The sample is new and they are only giving 10% discount so the cost...

My fiance has more GMs than I do and I understand it's totally fine to have uneven sides but there are some gfs that I'm considering asking but not 100% sure. Any thoughts? Friend A) We were very close in college and was there for each other alot....
