Sam

Brian and Sam met during Spring Break 2008 while Sam was in Texas visiting some study abroad friends. They met at a birthday party for a friend, where they ended up talking all night. Even though Sam traveled back home to Michigan a few days later, the two kept in contact and became great friends. Throughout the next few years, they would talk every few days and even made a few trips to Michigan/Texas to visit each other. In 2010, Brian moved to Dayton, OH, for graduate school. While Dayton is much closer to Michigan than Texas was, the two still had nearly 300 miles between them. Nonetheless, they managed to see each other every few weeks, and their friendship slowly blossomed into something more. In May 2014, Brian and Sam traveled to Hawaii. Due to the time change, they were awake very early on the first day, and figured what better time than then to take a hike and watch the sun rise over the island. So the two set out for Diamond Head. They reached the top just after the sun came up. While taking in the amazing view, Brian proposed.
