Zac and I met through a friend and got to know each other by talking on the phone for about a year before we ever actually met face-to-face. Our first date was an unconventional blind date to my Junior Prom. With Zac living 2 counties away, we had a long distance relationship from the very beginning. After high school, we both attended Appalachian State University, where Zac joined a fraternity and we spent many weekends tailgating and attending football games.  I graduated from AppState in May 2009 and moved back home and began my teaching career, teaching 1st grade. Zac graduated in May 2010 with a Spanish degree. He then moved back home and is currently working at Volvo North America as a parts coordinator. Having dated for 7 1/2 years, I was very ready to begin planning for our life together. On my birthday (November 20), Zac surprised me with a gorgeous engagement ring while we were working on the farm land he rents for his cows.
