We are having a micro wedding with under 30 guests. We rented a big beautiful house in Bennington Vermont and invited our immediate families and closest friends to celebrate at an intimate ceremony and reception, and then stay the night all at the same venue. The ceremony will be a pagan handfasting which will take place outside in the snow around a bonfire. Our guests will help us with a “wish spell” by writing wishes and good thoughts on tags attached to phosphorus coated pine cones. When they throw the cones in the fire, the flames will turn green and blue and their wishes will be be put out into the universe through the flames and smoke. After the ceremony, guests will warm up with mulled wine and hot cocoa, and celebrate the way we met by playing a trivia game about us. Dinner will be family style on long banquets decorated with jewel toned linens, accents of gold, fruit bowls and lots of candles. Our favors are blue spruce saplings which will also serve as centerpieces. Dessert will be cookies and pastries from an authentic Dutch bakery in town to honor my birthplace. The dancing and celebrations have no end time since the whole house is ours all weekend, so we’ll party all night in the ballroom and billiards room!!!
