Wedding details
This is what is on our Wedding Website. :) Tom and Jessica met on an online dating site (See? These things do work!) called Plenty of Fish. Tom had been a member for about a year, and the only fish he was catching would best be described as clinger fish and cat-lady fish. After a few disastrous dates, Tom was about to give up on the site when he thought he would take one more look. He stumbled across Jessica's profile and thought, "Wow! An Angel Fish!". Jessica had only been a member for about a month, but already the sharks and eels were circling. Then one day, she noticed that Tom had put her in his Favorites group. Just a couple of days later, she got a message from him on the site. That was the start of many messages back and forth, that led to emails back and forth, and became phone calls and long conversations. Tom and Jessica talked on the phone and emailed each other quite a bit over the next couple of months. Tom was busy with work and some travel, and Jessica had school and a lot of family get-togethers over the holidays, so their schedules never could match up. Thus, it wasn't until January 2nd, 2009 that they finally had their first date. Jessica almost backed out of the date before ever leaving the house, but was convinced to go. On her drive from Garland to Arlington, her car started giving her trouble and she almost turned around and went home. After calling her house and talking to her mother and stepfather, she was encouraged to go on with the date. It took them awhile to find each other in the parking lot, but they finally spotted each other and walked to the restaurant. Like any first date, there was nervousness for them both, but thanks to the previous two months, they already felt like they knew each other a little. Tom had purchased a Christmas present for Jessica, which he presented at dinner. Jessica was pleasantly surprised! Jessica told Tom that while he had excused himself to use the restroom, their gay waiter commented that he thought Tom was cute. Tom was not-so-pleasantly surprised! They spent the next 4 hours eating, talking, and walking through the various shops. It was an amazing night and the conversation flowed easily. Jessica received plenty of calls and text messages from family and friends to make sure she wasn't bound a gagged in a car trunk somewhere! As midnight neared and they said their goodbyes. Tom knew he definitely wanted to see Jessica again and see where things would go. Jessica called her brother on her drive home and told him she'd just met the man she was going to marry! She turned out to be right... In the days to come, there were trips to the zoo, drives around town, comfortable nights at Tom's house, Valentine's Day plans, and romance that turned into a wonderful new relationship for them both. After a few weeks, Tom paid a visit to Jessica's house in Garland to meet her family and her dogs. Dinner with the family was fun and they made Tom feel welcome. Heidi, Jessica's Border Collie, was easy. Tal, Jessica's Brazilian Mastiff, didn't want Tom anywhere near! A number of visits to Tom's later with the dogs, lots of treats through a cracked door and a few wild escapes from a 140 pound dog, Tal decided that Tom could walk around his own house in her presence. Jessica went with Tom to his family's house for dinner. After meeting Jessica, they all heartily approved! Over the next few months laughter flowed, hearts opened, and love bloomed. Jessica made a move to Arlington to share a home and a life with Tom, and they have now been a couple for 3/12 years. On September 16th, 2010, Jessica's birthday, Tom proposed. She said yes...
