The Day We Met Betty's Story My daughter and I were doing our weekly girls day out shopping when we entered into a department store of her choosen, in search of a designer belt. After looking around noticing mostly men attire, I asked my daughter, "Why do you want to shop at this store? It looks like a department store catered to men." Little did I know, on that day, the man of my dreams, would enter the same store. The funny thing is he and I attended the same church. I noticed him during Sunday morning services, how could I not, he was one of the ministers of our church. Although we saw each other in passing we never uttered a word to one another. I'm not one to mingle after church services and neither is he. On that particular day my daughter and I had been in the store for nearly five minutes when Greg walked in. Immediately our eyes locked and I boldly said, "Hello, Saint John," which is the name of the church we attend. Greeting me with a warm hello, he extended his hand. As we embraced fingertips, for what seemed like forever, something supernatural happened. I was never one who believed in love at first sight, but I assure you I felt what would be a beginning of everlasting love. My attention refocused when my daughter asked, "Mom, who is this man?" Releasing his hand, I responded, "A guy from church." Waving goodbye, Greg said, "I hope to see you at Sunday morning services." I told him I would certainly be there. That was a Friday, on that following Sunday, it snowed and all church services were cancelled. The upcoming week was Easter and our church held Passion services Monday thru Sunday. Greg preached on Thursday night, and the sermon was excellent. After services he formally introduced himself, telling me he have not stopped thinking about me since we conversed in the store. I told him I've experienced the same. Before we could continue our conversation, our pastor interrupted, expressing how much he enjoyed the service. I excused myself and headed out of the church. The next Sunday morning, while entering the church, Greg mentioned he would like to continue where we left off in our previous conversation. I obliged and the rest is loving history. We agreed to go out on a date that following day and we have been inseparable ever since. Greg's Story I had been noticing Betty during church services for quite some time but at that point of my life I was not looking for a relationship, my only desire was to focus on serving God, by upholding my calling as an ordained Bishop. However, the more I saw her the more my spirit connected with her. Never did she notice I had been admiring her beauty and delighted in the way she worshipped God. Then came the day that I sat in church, playing the organ. I looked out and saw Betty and it was as though the congregation faded and all I could bare witness to was her. When I arrived home I said to God, "I don't even know this woman name and yet, I cannot get her out of my spirit." The next week I went on a spiritual fast; praying, reading my bible, and meditating on not my will, but the will of the Lord. It was then that I ran into the lady of my life in the store. When I walked in and noticed her my heart seemed to leap out of my chest. I tried to uphold my composure, not allowing it to be too obvious that her presence captivated me. She gave the warmest smile before uttering in her northern dialect ("Hello, St. John"). Our eyes locked and instantly I knew this would be a woman whom will make an everlasting impression in my life. Two weeks later, on a Sunday morning, I mentioned to my dad it was a woman whom I could not get out of my mind that attended our church. My dad asked, "Who is she?" I said, If she come to church I would point her out to him." When I entered the church Betty was sitting next to my dad. Noticing me, she excused herself moving to another pew. Excitedly I said, "Dad that is her. That's the woman I've been talking about." He smiled and said, "Wise choice, Betty is a nice lady." Maneuvering down the aisle I found rest in a seat next to her, asking, "After services I would like it very much if we can continue the conversation where we left off." She agreed. Now our predestined history is in the making!
