Rude and disrespectful employees
tldr: Decent food, rude and disrespectful employees.
My wife and I had Zambistro as our catering vendor for our wedding. Our venue gave us two choices, between them and Hilltop Resturant, and we went with Zambistro.
Our taste testing and menu planning with Mike went well. This was January, and our wedding was in June. We made our initial selections and were excited to work with them.
Fast forward to two weeks before the wedding. We tried multiple times to contact them through email to finalize our selections. There was no response.
Kara, Mike’s wife, called us saying she’s been trying to get ahold of us and that she thought our wedding was canceled.
We were confused so we contacted her back to make the finalizations. Our decisions with Mike were forgotten about and new options were presented that we had no clue about.
We were told it was too late to order the featured drinks we wanted. Apparently two weeks before the wedding was too short of a time to order blueberries for the lemonade drink we wanted. Mind you, they ended up serving the drinks no problem
Kara proceeded to be rude and threaten us mafia shakedown style. “You better bring the money tonight then.” We were supposed to make our final payment 7 days before the wedding. This was 9 days before. We actually were forced to pay early for fear of Kara canceling our wedding dinner or giving us drinks we didn’t want feature.
My wife is Latina and handled the interactions with Kara. We are not sure but it’s possible Kara might have some prejudices. She might have been afraid my wife wouldn’t pay because of her heritage. I’m not sure why else she would force us to pay early in such an aggressive and dismissive manner.
On the day of the wedding, the food turned out good. But one of the bartenders, a Zambistro employee, accidentally left their keys at the venue. Our coordinator wasn’t sure if it belonged to one of our guests so we took them to the hotel to find out.
The same day we received texts, while enjoying time with our families, from the employee who lost his keys. Not sure how he got my wife’s number, but he threatened to call the police on us for stealing his keys and that he knows our home address. Also the employee’s mother messaged and harassed us about it as well.
The keys were returned as soon as we could.
We weren’t holding the keys hostage. No one knew who they belonged to until we were already threatened.
The only way he would know our address is if Zambistros gave it to him.
The behavior from both the employee and Kara was uncalled for and unacceptable.
I do not recommend Zambistros catering service whatsoever. The food was good, but nothing to write home about.
Be careful with this vendor.
