Water's Edge Resort and Spa

"5 stars...absolutely fantastic...so much fun...food was delicious...never knew there was a place like this...beautiful!" These were the comments from our guests, and we couldn't agree more! From start to finish, this was beyond our dreams for our daughter and son-in-law's wedding .Kara showed us what could be; Melody made it all happen; valets made the move in and out a breeze; bartenders were friendly, fast, and never a line; Klemens, and the entire food service team, were fabulous, responsive and friendly. There is literally no department at Waters Edge in Westbrook that does not exceed expectations; they know what you want, before you do; and they treat you like family. What a weekend!! THANK YOU ALL!!

My sister got married over Memorial Day weekend at Waters Edge, and our family spent the entire weekend on property staying in one of the villas while preparing for — and then recovering from — the wedding festivities. Overall, it was a beautiful weekend and a very special experience for our family.

First and foremost, Melody and her team were wonderful to work with. Throughout the entire planning process, they were kind, professional, responsive, and genuinely invested in making Alyssa’s vision come to life. You can tell they truly care about creating a memorable experience for their couples.

Thursday night, they hosted the rehearsal dinner lobster bake, which was absolutely delicious. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was perfect for kicking off the weekend. My only minor critique would be that the lobster buckets could have been emptied or replaced more frequently during dinner service, but otherwise the evening was excellent.

Saturday morning, all of the bridesmaids got ready in a conference room connected to the Westbrook Ballroom. It was a great space for hair, makeup, and getting ready together, and Melody was incredibly attentive all morning. At one point, I asked about getting an additional dress rack around 9:30 AM, and by the time she arrived on site shortly after 10, she already had one with her. Small details like that really stood out.

Unfortunately, we spent most of the wedding day anxiously watching the weather and trying to decide whether the ceremony would be held indoors or outdoors. Melody did a great job keeping Alyssa informed, talking through options, and making a stressful decision feel much easier. Ultimately, the ceremony was moved inside to the Grand Ballroom, and the team did a beautiful job transforming the space. By some miracle, we were still able to do the first look and many of the photos outside between rain showers.

There were a few aspects of the reception that could use improvement. The lighting in the Westbrook Ballroom ended up feeling much darker than expected, dinner service ran quite long, and some members of the waitstaff seemed inexperienced with formal wedding service. We also ran into some frustration with hotel guests walking through the hallway connected to the reception space throughout the evening, though I understand that may be difficult to fully control at a resort property.

The biggest frustration of the night involved the bar service toward the end of the reception. We had been told the bar would remain open until 2 AM, however around 12:30 AM the bar manager stopped serving wedding guests despite continuing to serve hotel guests at the bar. This created a lot of confusion and understandably left many guests frustrated, especially after expectations had already been set differently. It unfortunately put a damper on the end of an otherwise beautiful evening. That said, the bartenders working both the rehearsal dinner and reception themselves were fantastic — friendly, hardworking, attentive, and wonderful with guests all weekend.

My only other major concern was with the florist. While the flowers themselves were beautiful, she was unfortunately very unpleasant to work with throughout the process, and I personally would not recommend her to another bride. She will be receiving a separate review.

I also want to acknowledge that this was one of the first weddings of the season, and I understand that many staff members may have been newer or still getting into the rhythm of wedding season.

Overall, despite a few frustrations, the weekend was absolutely beautiful and we are so grateful for the experience Waters Edge helped create for my sister and our family. The property itself is gorgeous, the coordination team truly cared, and the wedding ended up being everything Alyssa had hoped for.

We fell in love with the Water’s Edge venue for our wedding. The resort offered everything we were looking for from lodging, fine dining, activities and amazing hospitality. Melody, the wedding manager, truly made all of our dreams come true. We had a weekend full of events hosted by Water’s Edge and we were impressed beyond belief. She made the process not only simple and an ease, but enjoyable. Her energy is immaculate & you can tell she truly loves her job. She eased all our worries and even when it came to the difficult decisions of pivoting plans because of weather she handled it with grace, knowledge and clarity that we would still have the most perfect day- and that was 100% delivered. She was extremely responsive in the planning process and truly so knowledgeable about everything I needed. All our guests enjoyed themselves, even it being the rain option. We truly felt like we had the best day ever and you cannot put a price to that- however we do believe that for everything Water’s Edge did for us the amount spent was extremely fair!

We recently got married at Water’s Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook CT, the event took place in the month of October, 2025 and it was a great experience overall.
At this venue, our wedding was a magical, beautiful, and special day that we would call it
“A DREAM COME TRUE”.

For the money we invested in our wedding, We found everything just in venue: a beautiful and comfortable resort with friendly staff for you and your guests to explore, stunning ocean views and gorgeous lawns adorned by lush landscapes for your ceremony, welcoming and spacious ballrooms for you to choose for your reception / celebration, and exquisite restaurants with great and skilled chefs to provide delicious food and service on your special day!

However, all of the above would have not been possible without the support, experience, dedication, and professionalism of the Sales and Wedding teams and staff !.

We just had our wedding this past weekend and it was such an incredible experience at Water’s Edge. Everyone was so attentive and took care of us and our guests. Melody was the absolute best! She has been amazing and so helpful throughout the entire planning and day of process. Due to weather we had to change cocktail hour inside and it happened seamlessly. Our guests raved about the food and cake! The staff during the reception always made sure my husband and I had food and ate while it was hot and constantly making sure our drinks were full. The views from every room are amazing and will make for great photos. It was truly a magical weekend for us. We are so happy we chose Water’s Edge for our wedding!

We celebrated our son’s wedding in
October and it was absolutely gorgeous. The setting and landscaping was picture perfect-the sunset over the water made for the most stunning backdrop! The service was exceptional and the staff made everything run so smoothly. Melody, the sales and wedding coordinator, was responsive and very professional. The vibe was so good and our guests made it a weekend celebration!

We had the absolute best experience hosting our wedding at Water’s Edge! Our coordinator, Lindsey Dizenzo, was amazing from start to finish. She was so responsive, organized, and enthusiastic throughout the entire process. I sent her countless emails with questions, and she always replied within a few days with thoughtful, helpful answers. While the venue has set pricing for many of their packages, Lindsey was flexible and creative in helping us make substitutions or swaps that fit our vision. She and the entire Water’s Edge team were incredible with setup and breakdown, and thanks to their support, I was able to plan and execute everything without a separate wedding planner. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. Our guests had a wonderful weekend enjoying the hotel, beach, pool, and all the amenities. We loved having the restaurants and bars right on the property, especially for the after-party! Even though there were a couple of other weddings that weekend, everything ran seamlessly — no conflicts or overlaps at all. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Water’s Edge and Lindsey made our wedding weekend unforgettable!
