Vuka was a super cool, chill, non traditional wedding space. Working with ASHLEY INNES as the month of coordinator was the highlight of using Vuka though! Her month of services turned into a yearlong ordeal because of the pandemic. She was amazing and incredibly helpful.
Of course Vuka would not refund us due to the pandemic or work with us outside of a year from our original contract, so we decided to just make the best of a crummy situation by having a toned down pandemic wedding this past April.
The venue says it can hold like 300, but honestly I think our 70ish person wedding was perfect for this slightly more intimate venue. Love the mural on the wall and the central location.
Again, Ashley Innes was just amazing. She helped make this wedding go off without a hitch. It was beautiful and well organized thanks to her. I would work with her again in a heartbeat!

When our original venue got flash flooded three hours before our wedding start time, we were absolutely devastated. Luckily, our amazing wedding planner sprung into action. She made some calls and found out that Gather on Monroe had a last minute opening to host us and our 80 guests. So, two hours before the wedding was set to begin, we moved everything in.

We had never been to Gather on Monroe, and we were STUNNED. It was beautiful. It was, perhaps, even better in some ways than what we had spent over a year planning for at our original venue. We loved the nature-inspired elements in the decor, and since the weather had taken a terrible turn and ruined our outdoor plans, we were so pleased to have our ceremony and reception at Gather. It was, somehow, so perfect.

We're still not sure how and why we got so lucky, but we're pretty sure the people behind Gather on Monroe are responsible for saving our wedding. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you!

We just had our daughter's wedding reception at Vuka. They didn't want a cookie cutter ballroom, or some venue that was too cliché. They didn't want anything too sterile and soulless. Vuka was perfect for their Austin-y themed wedding reception! There is such a vibe already there with the décor and furniture they already have, that not much more is needed to make it special location for your upcoming event. Vuka just added another bathroom, so now they have a total of two. We were originally going to have to rent a port a potty. They have many beautiful tables already to choose from, so that cuts down, or eliminates the need, to rent tables. The staff is easy to work with, and very accommodating. The back yard with fire pit and string lights in the large Oak tree was beautiful, although we didn't end up using it as it was a warm night for October. The pictures don't do it justice, you have to come see it in person.

Anna, Brin, and Julia were a great team from start to finish. Julia was such a pleasure working with on the day of! Kept this bride sane. Always going above and beyond to make sure that things were running smoothly for our big day. Their backyard served as the PERFECT spot for our "moonrise wedding" and their very chill interior space was welcomed by all of our guests. This is the spot to get married in downtown Austin, hands down!

We chose VUKA as our reception venue! If we could do it all over, we would still pick Vuka.
It was such a cool venue. Our guests kept saying how "us" it was. Very artsy and industrial!

The only flip side is that there are some restrictions as to how many ppl are allowed out back and you cannot have any guests be in the outdoor front area for your exit. We had to do our sparkler exit inside. It was still very cool and made for some amazing pics!

The venue is bright, well-lit, and well equipped. Parking is convenient, and the community manager who answers the main phone line, is outstanding: professional, accommodating, and by far the most helpful person I dealt with.

Unfortunately, the management and operations make the experience frustrating. Communication is excellent before booking, but after payment, the tone shifts to constant nickel-and-diming. A $500/$600 per hour (if rented hourly) is charged even when only one staff member is on-site, doing little more than being present. The drinks package, presented as mandatory, offered low-quality options by default, and getting better selections approved became unnecessarily difficult. Requests for bar supply details were met with incomplete information and a dismissive attitude.

The event director/partner is essentially unreachable, despite having a listed phone number. On one occasion, after staff connected me to her, I overheard saying she didn’t want to speak with me (she did not know she was on speaker phone). This after I had spent $7,000 on the venue. Staff have openly said that management prioritizes revenue over guest experience due to financial struggles and potential closure.

The space itself was not properly cleaned before my event. Plants were dying, trash was outside (which I had to pick up myself), and overall upkeep felt neglected. The initial walk-through was warm and welcoming, but that hospitality disappeared once the contract was signed.

In short: beautiful venue, poor management practices, rude & disrespectful leadership. I'd consider recommending or returning ONLY if there were a change in leadership and a genuine focus on customer experience and overall upkeep.
