Paul Zimmermann is a one of a kind musician. Music is in his genes. With a maternal grandmother and mother who played piano by ear and a paternal grandfather who was a singer and a father who was a self taught guitar and banjo player, music was all around him from a very young age. He was taken to ‘hootenannies’ by his father and sang all the classic American folk songs as a child. Performing in choirs and choruses in his grammar school years and then in bands and musicals in high school, he was exposed to a wide range of musical idioms and soaked it all in.

Peter Ballin- Reeds A versatile musician whose wide professional experience ranges from Performance to Recording to Teaching
from Jazz to Jingles to Rock. He performs on a wide array of instruments, including the saxophones (tenor, alto, soprano), the oboe and English horn, the flutes (piccolo, c, and alto), the clarinet and the Akai E.W.I. (Electronic Woodwind Instrument) with digital and analog synthesizers and digital samplers. Among the many national performers with whom Peter has recorded are Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Michele LeGrand, the Brecker Brothers, Dave Mason, Angela Bofill, and Steve Forbert. Peter has performed in concert with the Chicago Symphony, the New American Symphony, and Michele LeGrand Orchestras.

Tim Bales paid his road dues in the 1970s with soul icon Jackie Wilson, The Coasters, and on a five year national tour with his own ten piece show band. Currently playing trumpet for the Ides of March and Grammy winner Jim Peterik (Eye of The Tiger, Vehicle), playing lead trumpet in the DePaul University Jazz Orchestra, he has performed and recorded with Grammy winners Phil Woods, Ira Sullivan and Jeff Hamilton as well as performing with The Temptations, Joan Rivers, playing elegant weddings in a tuxedo and marching in Chinatown funeral processions in Chicago snowstorms.

We had our wedding in August and we LOVED the band. They met all of our wedding needs. They were enthusiastic, energetic, and nice! They were very professional when they were playing. My guests loved the music and they all commented on how the band sounded just like the song being played. I had a blast at my own wedding.
Paul is always there when you call him. He will do his best to meet all of your wedding needs. He was very easy to talk to and listened to what you want for your wedding. I would recommend this band to anyone!

The Z Orchestra provided the entertainment for our wedding in 2012. Not only did the band sound great and keep our guests dancing the entire time, but Paul (leader of the band) was a huge help in assisting us when it came to organizing our reception. Paul served as MC for the evening, and put us at ease when he helped us plan the flow of the evening, starting with the introduction of the bridal party and ending with the final song of the evening. We had such a great time with The Z Orchestra, and we received so many compliments on the band from our guests for weeks after the wedding. We were so glad that The Z Orchestra was part of our wedding!
