About

The Wild Center is located in the Adirondacks in northern New York. The Adirondacks are unique in the world. Surrounded by people, they house great expanses of nature interspersed with small towns and communities. They can be an example for a future where man and the rest of the natural world find better ways to coexist.

My husband and I LOVED having our wedding at the Wild Center! Being from the Adirondacks (Tupper Lake, specifically), I wanted a truly authentic Adirondack reception. The Wild Center helped us make this happen! The event coordinator - Faith - was invaluable to work with... very responsive for all the months leading up to the wedding. Very flexible in considering our interests. They had everything set up perfectly under the cocktail tent and inside the Great Hall for dinner and dancing. Due to Mother Nature and a couple other unforeseen factors, the pond outside the museum was only half full for our wedding day. While this was disappointing for us, we can attest that the Wild Center went above and beyond to make up for this, and we were so appreciative of their efforts. They are a great group of people to work with. Would definitely recommend this unique place to anyone looking for a gorgeous ADK venue.

The Wild Center is such a fun, beautiful place to have a wedding! The staff there is attentive and willing to do whatever it takes to make it the wedding of your dreams. My husband and I had a lot of ideas we wanted worked into the reception, and they were able to make them all happen for us! From the cocktail hour outside under the tent, dinner in the great hall, dancing all night, it was the perfect venue for us! It would not have been as amazing without the help of the hardworking, dedicated staff! I highly, highly recommend this unique and gorgeous venue for your wedding!

The Wild Center was the perfect reception venue for our Tupper Lake Wedding. Josh was extremely easy and flexible to work with and was very responsive to us and our vendors. We were able to utilize the tent for our cocktail hour and the great hall for the reception. It was a treat for our guests to experience the exhibits and Wild Walk. The Wild Center provided a great kitchen for our caterer, a room to store all of our decor, bartenders, tables, chairs, flatware, linens, glasses, etc. which made it very easy.

The Wild Center was a fantastic location to have our September wedding. Wedding venues are always going to be pricey, but we felt really good about giving our money to such a great organization. The event coordinator, Josh, and his team went out of their way to create an exceptional day for us. We had our ceremony by the pond, cocktail hour (with passed and stationary hors d'oeuvres) among the exhibits, and dinner/dancing in the Great Hall. We lucked out with beautiful weather, but since fall in the ADKs can be unpredictable, it was reassuring to know that there was a rain location (the outdoor tent) and a thunderstorm location (the indoor theater). Since our wedding took place after the museum closed at 5:30, we were allowed to bring our dog for the ceremony. We had a few older guests or guests with special needs, and the Wild Center was incredibly accommodating with special seating, outlets and extension cords, and special requests to ensure that everyone was comfortable and taken care of.

Overall, our guests absolutely loved the venue! We used the center exhibit room (which is normally used for crafts) to allow our guests to make custom quilt squares for our guest quilt. We also displayed a slideshow with our photos on the big screens.

We would also recommend our combination of local vendors, who worked really well together:
> Wedding Planner & Day-Of Coordinator - Katy VanAnden of VanBee & Co.
> Caterer - Jonathan Gravatt of Solitude Catering
> Accommodations - Pine Terrace Motel & Resort (we rented 15 cabins for all our friends and hosted a big Saturday BBQ)
> Photographer - Amy and Guy of Keech Photography (out of Syracuse)
> Videographer - Zach & Aja of Live Oak Fils
> Hair - Thomas of Park Street Hair and Nails
> Dessert & Flowers - Rulf's Orchard and Apple Blossom Florist (which share a space in Peru, NY and share delivery)

Our wedding was beautiful at the Wild Center. We had a few issues with people getting back to us from there but otherwise they were pretty easy to deal with. I wasn't impressed with the fact that they kept running out of beverages during our event considering it was 90+ degrees out that day. However they were very flexible with us we were able to get married during open hours and have our cocktail hour outside and then after they closed at 6 pm they made sure everything was set inside so were able to come in immediately and have dinner.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
