About

Thank you for considering the Aloha Foundation’s Ohana Family Camp for your event. A historic retreat site of great natural beauty, Ohana was built in the early 1900s primarily as a getaway for families of children attending the many summer overnight camps then active around the Lake Fairlee shore. Our camp currently comprises 21 rustic cabins of one to four bedrooms, a New England style dining hall, and a variety of outbuildings on 116 acres of woodlands, fields, and waterfront. Our property begins at the shoreline of Lake Fairlee and climbs uphill towards the top of the ridge where the camp is located. The land consists of wooded and open terrain with beautiful views down the Middlebrook Valley.

Fulfill your Summer Camp Wedding Weekend dreams!

Ohana is a truly magical place for a wedding, and we are so happy this was the first decision we made when planning our wedding! We knew we wanted to have a summer camp vibe where everyone could stay on site, and our second biggest priority was amazing food - two requests that we were worried would not be possible together. We were wrong! Chef Steve at Ohana created a visionary menu for us - we wanted non-traditional pasta dishes to echo our time studying abroad in Italy, and he delivered. There was a gorgeous trio of pasta dishes that he suggested be served family style, and it was a huge hit with our guests. All of the food throughout the whole weekend was amazing, from the from-scratch toppings for our Friday night taco bar, to the freshly fried arancini appetizers, to the blueberry sauce to top the fluffy pancakes on Sunday morning. The opportunity to celebrate for the entire weekend with our guests staying on site was so special, and the grounds are the best of Vermont’s beauty. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets, crisp nights under the stars, and a beautiful wedding morning spent jumping in the waters of Lake Fairlee. Of course, they are a summer camp in rural Vermont, so remember that they won’t be able to get back to you as quickly as a traditional venue, but it ended up working out totally fine for us. Gretchen, the wedding coordinator, knows how to make the whole weekend run like a well-oiled machine. Our guests could not stop raving about everything the entire weekend, and are still talking about it all 3 weeks later!!! I can’t think of anything that could have went better during the weekend, and it was the most memorable part of our wedding!

Intimate, romantic and exceeded our vision

We had a high bar for our blended family weekend, and our expectations were elevated. The food, the beautiful views, access to activities and beautiful hiking created wins for everyone who attended our wedding. I highly recommend this venue and Gretchen, Vanessa and the chef Steve, are outstanding.

Everything about Ohana was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. First, the venue is *spectacularly* beautiful; all of our guests whom I've spoken with said that their blood pressure dropped by 10 points upon arriving at Ohana and looking out over the lake and mountains.

At least as important: the staff are phenomenally helpful and friendly. We worked very closely with Peggy and Vanessa throughout the process, and they were exactly what we needed. Even when we were at our most stressed, they kept an even keel.

We intend to come back to Ohana year after year with our kids, our friends, and our friends' families. Ohana is now a part of our family.

Our wedding at Ohana Family Camp was absolutely spectacular. People are still raving about how much fun it was to spend an entire weekend together, instead of one short evening. Renting the camp for the weekend was not more expensive than renting any venue for an evening - guests paid for their own rooms (and the cost of a full, delicious brunch was included in that), so we only paid for one more dinner for everyone. And Ohana's food is incredibly good - their chef is amazing and everything looks beautiful (though their catering a bit pricy, so we went with another caterer for the reception dinner). The cabins are each family-style, so not your typical camp - each one has a sitting room with a fireplace, its own bathroom and kitchenette, and separate bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each. There's even one cabin with a queen bed for the couple, and a beautiful large cabin for the bride to get ready with all her bridesmaids - both of which you don't find at most camps (or venues!). Vanessa is super great to work with - she's easygoing, detail-oriented, and makes you feel so comfortable, especially with her amazing hugs! You will need to plan the entire wedding on your own - she's not a wedding planner or coordinator - but she provides the information and guidance that you'll need. And the Ohana staff is friendly and mostly blends into the background - they make it seem like they're not there, and everything just runs smoothly and works well. But the best part is the venue itself - its absolutely spectacular (just look at their website for pictures of past weddings) and all of our pictures were unbelievably beautiful just because of the view. I couldn't recommend getting married there more highly - it's everything you'd want from a camp wedding, with less of the dirt and much more luxury than you'd typically get!

Wedding with Ohana Family Camp

My partner and I got married at Ohana Family Camp this fall. Everything was amazing—beyond what we dreamed it could be! Our weekend there was beautiful, fun and whimsical, sentimental, and absolutely brimming with love and tranquility and community. The natural backdrop that Ohana offers for ceremony site needs no frills or dressing up; it is perfect as it is, and the view is stunning. Over the weekend, Gretchen was incredibly helpful and experienced and professional and fun to work with. She gave great advice and direction as we were setting up, and the day of the wedding, she was right by our sides to help us navigate the details of the day. We highly recommend working with Gretchen; she is not a wedding planner, but she was an essential figure in making our dream wedding come to life. The food was AMAZING. Our guests are still raving about it. We were head-over-heels about the Thai vegetable curry, and we know our guests enjoyed their other choices too. The icing on the cake was the DELICIOUS end-of-the-night apple and cheddar and pickle and cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches. The Dining staff was also extremely accommodating to allergy and health needs. I am GF, and they had naturally GF options and made me by own GF grilled cheese! The best. During the day, our guests enjoyed amazing opportunities around the beautiful Ohana grounds—they swam, hung out on the docks, boated, and hiked the trails. All of them had great adventures and absolutely LOVED what the woods and trails had to offer. The bonfires at night were simply magical. And being free from cell reception all weekend was an especially magical part of it all—we were all at Ohana together, laughing, dancing, chatting, strolling, and truly enjoying one another's company. My husband and I LOVED working with Ohana and are incredibly grateful for the whole-weekend experience they gave us and our guests. We are dreaming of an Ohana reunion ... Thank you to Gretchen, Vanessa, and the entire staff for the best weekend of our lives!

Ohana is an amazing venue for a wedding. Our guests raved about the location, the views, the nature, the cabins, the food - we're still getting compliments on our wedding weekend! (One of my pickiest friends said "this is one of the best weddings I've ever been to!")

The food for the welcome dinner, breakfasts and bag lunches was delicious, and they were able to accommodate dietary restrictions and our special requests. The cabins were just right - rustic, but not uncomfortable. Our friends and family were able to take advantage of the waterfront on Saturday morning (unfortunately we had to get ready and missed out). The staff did a great job on the weekend of the wedding - things went really smoothly and they were very friendly and welcoming.

Our ceremony site was at a sister camp, and when we went there for the rehearsal on Friday we found all sorts of random stuff around the site - once we let Vanessa know, she took care of it immediately, either by having the other camp staff or her own staff clean up, and it looked amazing the next day.

I guess my only advice would be that since it's not a full-time wedding venue, (and because there's no wifi or cell service!), it can sometimes take a while to get a response to an email, since they're off doing their actual jobs of running a camp! This was totally fine with us, but just be aware that they can't always respond instantly.

Ohana is the BEST place to get married. Both of our families had a blast. Absolutely everything was perfect. The staff is amazing and willing to help with absolutely anything and everything. It rained just before the ceremony, but Vanessa just said "if we have to move the schedule around so you can get married on the lawn, we'll do it." As it turned out, the rain cleared and the sun came out and I watched the staff frantically drying off chairs so we could get married outside. The chef is amazing and the food was perfect and delicious. The lake is beautiful and the view is gorgeous. It was perfect. If you're undecided about getting married here, just do it. It will be the best decision of your life!

Vanessa & the crew at the Ohana Camp are the best! The flexibility and attention to detail of the staff were top notch and made them a pleasure to work with. If you're looking for the perfect venue for you and your guests to get away to, we highly recommend that you go check them out - the view from the reception hall will blow you away.
