We love the Water Conservation Garden!

Choosing The Water Conservation Garden for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made! The garden has an inspiring mission, actively promoting sustainability and conservation education in San Diego through youth programs and community festivals. Given the costs of weddings, it felt meaningful to support such a deserving organization.

The garden itself was stunning, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about it. Having access to the entire space added a special touch, especially as night fell and we celebrated under the stars. Being inland was another unexpected perk—though a heavy marine layer hung over the coast, we enjoyed blue skies and sunshine in El Cajon.

The venue’s flexibility was also a huge plus. With no catering restrictions, we could bring in our own caterers, dessert vendors, and even a late-night snack vendor. We loved the bring-your-own-alcohol policy, which allowed us to customize our drinks and bartender choices. We used minimal decorations, as the garden’s natural beauty created the perfect setting.

Lauren, our contact at the garden, was a delight to work with—so helpful and genuinely kind. Our day-of coordinator, Angelina Byrd, was fantastic, making sure everything went smoothly. For anyone looking for a wedding venue that combines beauty, eco-friendly values, and incredible flexibility, we can recommend The Water Conservation Garden enough!

Enchanting Garden

The Water Conservation Garden was our third reception venue and had I known about it from the start, it would have been our one and only. My husband and I had to postpone our wedding in 2020 to 2021, then to 2022. We knew we wanted an outdoor space that would allow us to bring in our own alcohol and I luckily found The Garden on WeddingWire. I sent an email to Angelina Byrd and set up an appointment to view the venue. She was such a savior during an incredibly stressful time. She was not only responsive, she was willing to chat with me after hours when I got off work. Upon touring the place, I knew it was the one! The plaza was large enough to fit 15-20 tables comfortably yet provide an intimate feel. Angelina was really knowledgeable and asked the rights questions and provided the right suggestions. On the night of, it was truly magical! The strung lights around The Garden added to the magic of the night and everyone had a blast. There were plenty of restroom stalls nearby and the place was large enough to accommodate 16 tables, a sweetheart table, a bar, guest instant photos, a DJ, and dancing area. A lot of the guests also toured the garden grounds and found that lovely! I definitely recommend booking The Garden!

The most beautiful local venue, with great event management

Another couple we know used the Water Conservation Garden for their wedding a few years back and it always stuck in our minds as being not only a beautiful venue, but a fun and interesting one too! With tons of space for guests both at your ceremony (choice between gazebo & amphitheatre) and reception/cocktail hour (the plaza is huge!) we were able to fit our 100 person wedding with room to spare. Angelina was SO helpful, especially as we chose this venue not long before the wedding itself after a backyard venue fell through. Her positivity about the WCG is absolutely infectious, and she worked with our coordinator and with us to help us put together what many of our guests AND vendors have said is the best wedding they've been to - Angelina even made suggestions to add to the experience. On a practical note, we loved how flexible the garden was with letting us use our own caterers. The big bathrooms, electrical outlets, provided seats, and beautiful lighting in the plaza helped to make our day that much less stressful. The pricing for this venue is VERY generous, as well. I can't recommend the Water Conservation Garden enough!
