The Nook is the best kept catering secret in Hawai`i. My husband and I knew of The Nook because we used to eat brunch there all the time. (We've since relocated to the mainland, so now we just dream of their mochi waffles or the shrimp & goat cheese salad.) When we decided to get married on Oahu, we knew we wanted The Nook to cater. We met with Hailey Berkey, one of the co-owners, to do a walk-through of our venue so she could see the facilities and we could talk through what additional needs we'd have (e.g.: water & lemonade station, bartender, where to place the meat & cheese table). A few days later we met (over lunch at The Nook!) to go through the menu options. And WHOA, the menu options! It was really hard to decide among all the locally-sourced, gorgeous goodies on offer. In the end, we decided on grilled fruit skewers and a hamachi ceviche for starters, mahimahi on polenta and braised pork belly on rice for the mains, a separate Okinawan sweet potato gnocchi station (because, why not?) and a meat & cheese table that was so good (and beautifully arrayed) our guests were taking selfies with it. We did buffet style, which worked for our more casual location, and because folks could get a taste of everything. And everyone wanted to taste everything!
The Nook doesn't yet have a dedicated catering point person, so sometimes it took Hailey a few days to respond. But she was ON IT the week of the wedding (and the day of). Plus everyone on The Nook team was warm and friendly, and genuinely enthused to see my husband and me getting hitched. The food was fantastic, and our guests have emailed/texted/called to say how delicious it was. Plus the pricing for all that beautiful and inventive food was excellent-- the most competitive price on island, for some of the highest quality.
