The Neon House

The Neon House is a modern, industrial event venue in the heart of Norfolk’s NEON District, created for celebrations that deserve a space with personality.

Surrounded by murals, galleries, creative businesses, and some of Norfolk’s most recognizable arts and cultural destinations, The Neon House offers a distinctly urban setting for weddings, corporate events, and social celebrations. Exposed brick, original architectural details and abundant natural light give the venue character before the first design element is ever added.

Owned by husband-and-wife team Chef John Patrick and Marcy Telfer, The Neon House grew from more than two decades of experience in catering, events and hospitality through Chef by Design. Their goal was to create more than another event space. They wanted a venue where thoughtful hospitality, exceptional food, and a memorable setting could come together under one roof.

With 12,500 square feet and multiple event spaces, The Neon House can accommodate everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations. Clients can select the spaces that best fit their event or utilize the venue more extensively, creating a flexible experience that can evolve from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception.

The Studio is the venue’s largest signature space, accommodating events of up to 299 guests depending on the layout. Exposed brick walls, original beams, and a glass garage door create a warm industrial backdrop filled with natural light. From wedding ceremonies and seated dinners to cocktail-style receptions, the space can transform dramatically depending on the vision.

The Gallery offers another expansive event space, seating approximately 210 to 250 guests depending on the layout and dance floor, or accommodating up to 299 for a standing reception. Used independently or alongside The Studio, it provides even greater flexibility for larger celebrations. Historic architectural details, tall brick walls, and an industrial-chic aesthetic give the space its unmistakable Norfolk character.

The Loft offers additional space within the venue and can serve as a private lounge or complement larger events happening throughout The Neon House.

One of the things we love most about The Neon House is its versatility. The spaces were designed to be transformed rather than dictate a particular wedding style. Modern and minimal. Romantic and layered. Bold and colorful. Whatever the vision, the architecture provides a distinctive starting point while allowing each celebration to feel entirely its own. Rehearsal opportunities are also available, helping couples and their wedding parties feel comfortable in the space before the wedding day.

And then there is the food.

Exclusive catering by Chef by Design brings chef-driven, scratch-made cuisine and thoughtful hospitality directly into the experience. Menus are created around each celebration, with consideration for preferences, dietary accommodations, guest count, and overall event style. From presentation and service to the final plate placed at the table, the culinary and service teams approach every event with intention and attention to detail.

Couples also have access to a spacious getting-ready suite with incredible natural light, plenty of room for the wedding party and beauty team, and a private kitchen, creating a comfortable place to settle in before the celebration begins.
