The Happy Bagpiper LLC is a wedding musician based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that specializes in the Great Highland bagpipe. Bagpiper Thom has more than 30 years of experience playing in competitions, pipe bands, and parades. He holds the highest status as a grade 1 soloist, and has earned numerous awards throughout his career. In 2016, he started The Happy Bagpiper in order to turn his love for the bagpipe into his full-time profession. Outside of weddings, he also performs at funerals, graduations, and parties; teaches his instrument to children and adults, and runs a bagpipe supplies retail shop. He is excited to bring the bagpipe, also known as the Irish warpipe, to weddings throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The Happy Bagpiper is a team of elite musicians that include several pipers as well as drummers. Couples can request a solo player for their big day, or opt for a larger group for a full and uplifting sound. Bagpipes traditionally play at several points during a wedding, including the arrival of guests, the processional, the recessional, and the guests’ exit. Additionally, bagpipes can accompany a moment of reflection for absent loved ones, a candle lighting, or a traditional Celtic hand-fasting. Thom is happy to tailor each performance to couples’ ceremony and reception preferences. He provides a large selection of favorite songs, and loves to take requests and learn new songs. All performances include arrival 15 minutes ahead of time and traditional Celtic attire. Thom believes that bagpipes bring a joyful, moving, and unforgettable experience to celebrations of love, and he is overjoyed to be part of each wedding.
