The last thing a bride or her attendants want on wedding weekend are surprises from a vendor. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened to us at Hair Gallery, not once but twice.
Our lessons learned?
1. Don't assume service prices quoted will remain the same on service day. Our prices increased after our booking/deposit. No one informed us ahead of time which was surprising, as we were emailing back and forth finalizing the schedule. It was very upsetting to the bride to find out we needed over $100 more two hours before the wedding! We had to scramble to cover the extra charges, as some of our party had already left.
2. Don't assume when told you will have the entire house for your party that you really will. On Friday, our nail day, our party of 11 had others sharing our tiny party space. It was cramped, hot and awkward as we were eating and drinking. On Saturday, our hair and makeup day, other clients were in and out all morning - it was prom weekend. We had no idea, and again, it was awkward to be eating and drinking in front of everyone.
3. Don't assume they will keep to your schedule. On wedding day we ran late and it caused unnecessary stress rushing to get dressed in time for pictures.
The owner did apologize for our disappointments. What she didn't do is intervene or make things right. For that reason I can not in good faith recommend this salon for a wedding or bachelorette. It might be fine for your normal monthly services as the stylists are talented and personable.
