We had our wedding at The Appel, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish! Laurie and her entire team were incredibly accommodating, attentive, and kind throughout the entire process. Laurie went above and beyond to make sure every detail was just right — her calm professionalism and genuine care made the planning stress-free and enjoyable.

On the day itself, everything ran so smoothly that we could simply relax and enjoy the celebration. The venue looked stunning, the timing was seamless, and every element felt personal and special — a true reflection of us as a couple. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the space was and how flawlessly the day flowed.

The Appel Inn was quite literally the perfect venue for our June 2024 wedding! Between the circular layout, the tall ceiling with white-washed walls, and tons of windows, the building feels so open and fits in perfectly with the natural beauty outside. Our guests are still raving about how beautiful it was.

Our ceremony was offsite, but we were still able to use the She Shed for the bridesmaids to get ready that morning. We also enjoyed being able to take pictures afterwards near the creek and under the clear top tent out back. Even on a very humid June day, we were so glad to be able to use the deck for cocktail hour and loved that the bar was covered on the deck, so that guests were able to move in and out all night long. It was also lovely having a sweetheart table that was separate but never made us feel far from our guests.

We had more children than the average wedding, but with all the lawn space, wraparound deck, and fire pit, there was ample room for the kids to run around outside and play lawn games in addition to joining us on the dance floor.

Laurie was a pleasure to work with from the start. She was prompt in all our communications and even let us come back for a second tour when my parents were in town about a month after our initial visit. She recommended many of the vendors we ended up using: Nicole’s Catering, DJ Paul Calarco, Ambiance Floral, Salon 146, and even enthusiastically welcomed us bringing in the Emack & Bolio’s ice cream truck! Each vendor she recommended was top-notch and worked so seamlessly as a team with Laurie & the other vendors, and we couldn’t be happier with our choices. On the day of the wedding, Laurie’s husband Gerd greeted us first thing in the morning and happily helped us bring in all the decor & lawn games, and they were both involved all day in helping to make sure everything ran smoothly—all the way through takedown at the end of the night. We highly recommend the Appel Inn for your special day. It was truly worth every penny!

We were so lucky to work with Laurie for our wedding - she has incredible experience, a creative, fun, and flexible touch, and treated us like family. Planning our wedding in Altamont when we were not local would have been so stressful without Laurie. We cannot recommend working with her more - with Laurie on your team, you have nothing to worry about!!!

My husband and I had a general idea of what we wanted when we began our venue search. Something indoor for dinner and dancing, but nothing that felt constrictive. We wanted a space that had an option of being outdoors for portions of the day/night. The Appel Inn was exactly what we were looking for with a wraparound porch where the bar was set, a breathtaking outdoor ceremony site, and then the reception space. Laurie was great to work with and was honest and helpful during the planning process. The grounds have a she shed that my 12-person bridal party was able to comfortably spend time in and a smaller grooms shed. We did not get ready in the space, and I would not recommend doing so for a larger wedding party, but we did spend the couple hours before the ceremony there and found it to meet our needs just fine. The venue is naturally very beautiful and we did not need to go crazy with décor. We did really basic flowers and centerpieces and it was just perfect. There are so many incredible photo opportunities too, so find a photographer familiar with the space (Linda Conley was ours and she was awesome!) Laurie and her husband Gerd were there throughout the wedding day/night checking in and helping the night move smoothly. I found their presence to be very pleasant. Overall, my experience at The Appel Inn was really wonderful. I would highly recommend viewing this venue, meeting with Laurie, and booking this venue.

When we were looking at venues for our wedding, we knew we wanted more of a country style wedding, but with modern amenities.

One visit to Appel Inn made us sure that we wanted to host our wedding there. It is a beautiful property with a creek, lawn, and nice deck that guests can meander through.

The covered creekside ceremony space let us have our outdoor wedding without being worried about rain ruining it.

The gathering space is warm and inviting and the air conditioning was key on our 100 degree summer wedding day.

A story that speaks to Laurie’s willingness to go above and beyond is when it came time to button up the bride’s bustle on her dress. The design made it difficult to find the correct buttons and loops, but Laurie patiently worked on the dress until it was correct.

The Appel Inn was perfect for our July wedding. Laurie is a pro and kept the day running very smoothly. My sister and I arrived at the She Shed around 1 pm for hair and makeup - while my (now) husband and his brother arrived around 3 at the man cabin ( there might be a catchier name, but I don't know it) to also get ready. We had a chance to take photos before our 5 pm ceremony on the gorgeous grounds.
Because it was SO warm (somewhere around 98 degrees) many guests lingered in the gathering space, before being encouraged to travel to the wedding site by the creek.
This was a delight, to sit in the she-shed and watch everyone walk down!
Having the clear top tent took anyway any anxieties I would have had about an outdoor ceremony.
The day was absolutely perfect and I would 100% recommend the Appel Inn.

Where do we begin. Laurie and Gerd are amazing. They have been in the business for decades and make the whole process from consultation to planning to the actual wedding day so seamless. We got engaged during covid and met with Laurie back in 2020. After speaking with her, we knew automatically that The Appel Inn was the place we wanted to get married. She was very responsive to emails and phone calls and guided us through every detail of our wedding. She recommended our caterer (Nicole's), photographer (Matt McClosky), DJ (Paul Calarco), and florist (Ambiance), and they were all seasoned, phenomenal vendors. In 2021, masks were still uncertain, and we wanted to have our wedding restriction free. Laurie was very accommodating and allowed us to move our wedding to the same date in 2022. She was so gracious and allowed us to use her space for an hour in 2021 to have a civil ceremony with our parents and siblings. She even helped us plan our honeymoon to St. Lucia, which we would highly recommend using her as your travel agent through Enchanting Escapes. Our honeymoon was beyond our expectations, by far the best destination we have been to in our lifetime.
Our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and more. Laurie built a he shed and a she shed, and we were able to come in a few hours before to get our hair and makeup done/get ready for the ceremony. It was really nice and convenient to do everything on site. We had our ceremony outdoors and our reception in the gathering space. My now husband and I were sitting at our sweetheart table looking at our guests, and we both agreed that this was everything we could have imagined. The space was perfect, everything was decorated perfect, and our guests were very comfortable and happy. One of our guests told us that she has been to a lot of weddings, but this one was flawless. Laurie was very accessible throughout the event if we needed her. Us and our guests had so much fun eating, drinking, dancing, and celebrating our marriage. Laurie did not rush us out, she was very kind and flexible to us and all our guests.
July 2, 2022 was the best night of our lives, and we can't thank Laurie enough for making our wedding dream come true!

We can not recommend The Appel Inn more highly. We had our wedding there on 10/10/21, and were blown away. Laurie and her husband are truly incredible, and were instrumental to making our day special.

To start off- the venue is absolutely gorgeous. You barely need to decorate it all, it is beautiful and elegant all on its own. It is classic and timeless, and utilizes natural light so beautifully. The outdoor space is beautifully maintained and is great for guests to get some air and hang out. There are heaters to keep the space usable after dark and in the colder months. We did lawn games, which were a huge hit. There is a great dance floor that doesn’t monopolize the space. The venue is gorgeous no matter the weather. Having a bonfire pit was incredible and really added to the atmosphere. The venue has a built-in rain plan as well, which was an enormous incentive for us to book and was something that we were grateful for and eased a lot of anxiety. There are so many cute little spots for photos, both for guests and for the photographers.

Laurie is an absolute godsend. She acted as our day-of coordinator, and managed our timeline so well. We did not have to worry about timing, timelines, schedules, or anything. Laurie and our DJ would come get us when we needed to be somewhere, and that was it! We were able to completely relax and enjoy our party. Laurie is fantastic for planning as well! When you sign the contract, you get a binder with recommended vendors that have worked at the venue before, which is worth its weight in gold. We chose our caterer, DJ, and photographer out of the binder, and were over the moon with all of them. Laurie has been planning weddings for a long time, and as people who have never attended a wedding before, we wanted someone who would not hesitate to tell us if our ideas were stupid or wouldn’t work how we want them to.

We truly could not have been happier with our wedding, every aspect was absolutely perfect. The Appel Inn was worth every penny, and I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a personalized, beautiful, FUN wedding venue. It was so lovely to have space for the guests to comfortably spread out and be there in a way that was comfortable for them.
