Hieu was a calming, fun presence since our engagement shoot. He brought the perfect amount of levity, reminding us to have fun throughout the process. He was so kind during the wedding, making sure we were okay out in the elements (the wind was not our friend) and perfectly balanced getting the shot while still allowing us to enjoy the time with family and friends. So many people at the wedding commented how great he was to work with. Lindsey was equally fantastic - checking on us and smiling throughout.

We loved how Julie opened our first conversation by getting to know us and our story, it really made us feel more connected to her before working together. From the moment we met Julie for our engagement shoot, she worked to put us at ease and capture shots that reflected our relationship. Then getting to meet Dutch and work with him and Julie at the start of our wedding day was a really special experience. Walking through our venue as a couple with them helped us have some quiet moments to relax and take in the specialness of our wedding day before starting our celebrations, and when we rejoined our families for family photos, Julie and Dutch were extremely efficient and expert at working with family members from ages 2 to 96! Since getting our own photos back, it’s clear that Julie and Dutch also have an amazing eye for natural beauty and for making their subject matter look beautiful. Their natural editing style lets the visual drama that they capture really shine. We were blown away by the ways in which they captured our venue’s hidden corners and for the many beautiful photos they captured of our guests. Getting our photos from Sweetwater not long after the wedding itself helped us relive the day in the best possible way–by being reminded of the moments we loved experiencing firsthand as well as getting to see so many sides of the event from our guests’ perspective for the first time. We would be eager to work with them in the future and highly recommend them to anyone looking for natural, artistic, and visually striking photographic work!

Our experience with Sweewater was absolutely incredible from start to finish. From the beginning, Julie was so accommodating with us, listening to all of our ideas for our photos, and made us so comfortable in front of the lens. They shot our engagement photos, our welcome party, and our wedding, and each set of photos was more breathtaking than the last. They absolutely exceeded our expectations, and we have already recommended them to multiple couples we know that have upcoming weddings. On our wedding day, they ensured we had time with each other, were able to get photos with all the people we had wanted, and stayed organized and on-time throughout the chaos that is a wedding day. We were so pleased with how all of the photos came out, and have many framed and hanging on our walls, and at our parent's houses. We cannot recommend them enough!

Julie and Dutch photographed our April 2025 and we are so happy they did. We could not have asked for better people to work with. Leading up to the wedding they created a timeline for us and throughout the planning months they answered all of our questions quickly and thoughtfully. On the day of our wedding we had some rain during our first look that was scheduled for outside and they kept us calm and helped us brave the weather and the photos turned out excellent. They were so kind and fun to work with all day and kept everything on track. They captured photos of all of our guests as well as the little details we planned and worked on for so long. Our family and friends all enjoyed working with them.

When I look at the photos they captured from the wedding day I can truly feel the joy I felt that day and that is something I am so grateful for and always will be!

Julie and Dutch are INCREDIBLE. They were one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process! We had so much fun going through our photos, it felt like we were reliving the day not only through our eyes but also through those of our loved ones. We laughed, we cried, we couldn’t believe how much they were able to capture the true essence of our day. The photos are not only stunning, they embody the way we felt that day and feel so authentic to us and our loved ones, which is exactly what we were looking for. We will cherish our photos for the rest of our lives! This is what makes Sweetwater so unique and talented. On top of that, Julie and Alyssa were EVERYWHERE; our guests were so impressed by them. I would highly recommend taking advantage of the engagement shoot as it allows you to get comfortable with Julie, or whoever your photog is, so that by the time the wedding day comes along you guys feel comfortable in front of the lens. This made a big difference for us and we were excited to see Julie again for our wedding - it was like having another friend there! She was also extremely helpful in navigating complex family dynamics which took a lot of stress off our shoulders. Can’t say enough good things, so happy we found them!

Choosing to work with Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater Portraits was arguably the best decision we made when wedding planning. I knew from the earliest stages of planning that choosing an excellent photography team was going to be a priority for me. I cared very much about ensuring that we had stunning photos, and I wanted to find artists to work with who had a very natural and light style. Julie and Dutch were perfect for what we wanted, and we genuinely enjoyed having them with us on our wedding day. They were an incredible team. They kept everyone calm, organized, and together while also letting us have time to ourselves when we needed it. They remembered all of our most special people by name. They were professional and efficient. I truly cannot say enough about them. And that's not even considering how gorgeous our gallery of pictures is. The photos are nothing short of perfect.

The groom and I don't consider ourselves photogenic and were nervous about photo time taking away from our enjoyment of the day. It was clear after the Zoom meeting with Sweetwater that they would make it as painless as possible. What neither of us anticipated was how much we would actually enjoy and value the time spent with Julie and Dutch as well as their video team--Naomi and Megan--on our wedding day. They made us feel comfortable and at ease in front of the cameras, by letting us just be ourselves and be together...and providing helpful posing adjustments when needed lol. Instead of taking away from us experiencing our wedding, they gave us quiet moments to just be still and connected. Everyone told us the day would feel like a whirlwind, but with Julie and Dutch guiding us--it didn't. We spent long quiet moments snuggling on the couch, and we took a lovely walk down to the ceremony space, and while everyone was eating dinner we got to go off into the vineyard at sunset. Not only did they give us these priceless moments, but they captured them so beautifully. Now we--two people who typically cringe at photos of themselves--are excited and proud to hang these in our home and show them to our grandchildren.
