Fantastic experience from start to finish!

Our experience with Sweewater was absolutely incredible from start to finish. From the beginning, Julie was so accommodating with us, listening to all of our ideas for our photos, and made us so comfortable in front of the lens. They shot our engagement photos, our welcome party, and our wedding, and each set of photos was more breathtaking than the last. They absolutely exceeded our expectations, and we have already recommended them to multiple couples we know that have upcoming weddings. On our wedding day, they ensured we had time with each other, were able to get photos with all the people we had wanted, and stayed organized and on-time throughout the chaos that is a wedding day. We were so pleased with how all of the photos came out, and have many framed and hanging on our walls, and at our parent's houses. We cannot recommend them enough!

We loved working with the Sweetwater team!
They were recommended to us by family & friends and we’re so happy that we went with Julie & Dutch! Our engagement and wedding day photos looked and felt exactly like how we hoped! I love the authentic and journalistic approach they have with the pictures — made everything feel so natural. My husband and I are not very “posey” and they really made us feel at ease and comfortable. They were so easy and efficient to work with and they worked so well with our family, friends & guests. The day went by so fast and in a blur — seeing their pov in the photos they captured is such a sweet way to preserve those precious memories and moments. Best Wedding Photographers!

Julie and Dutch photographed our April 2025 and we are so happy they did. We could not have asked for better people to work with. Leading up to the wedding they created a timeline for us and throughout the planning months they answered all of our questions quickly and thoughtfully. On the day of our wedding we had some rain during our first look that was scheduled for outside and they kept us calm and helped us brave the weather and the photos turned out excellent. They were so kind and fun to work with all day and kept everything on track. They captured photos of all of our guests as well as the little details we planned and worked on for so long. Our family and friends all enjoyed working with them.

When I look at the photos they captured from the wedding day I can truly feel the joy I felt that day and that is something I am so grateful for and always will be!

Dreamy photos!

We hired Sweetwater for our wedding and truly they were our #1 vendor. Our photos are stunning and everyone was professional, organized and made us feel so relaxed during what can be a stressful time. Best decision we made!

We couldn't be happier with our experience with Heiu as our wedding photographer! He had such a calming presence, was genuinely kind, extremely professional and so talented! He made us feel completely at ease, even during the many family portraits, which he handled with such ease and grace. It was a joy to get to know him, and we now have the most stunning and truly authentic photos from both our engagement session and wedding day to cherish forever. Heiu perfectly captured the love between myself and my husband but also with our families and it is such a beautiful thing to see. Separately, a big thank you to Julie, for her incredible organization and for working with me to perfect the timeline leading up to the big day. Everything ran so smoothly thanks to her attention to detail and Heiu's execution. Thank you both so much! We love Sweetwater!!

Julie and Dutch are INCREDIBLE. They were one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process! We had so much fun going through our photos, it felt like we were reliving the day not only through our eyes but also through those of our loved ones. We laughed, we cried, we couldn’t believe how much they were able to capture the true essence of our day. The photos are not only stunning, they embody the way we felt that day and feel so authentic to us and our loved ones, which is exactly what we were looking for. We will cherish our photos for the rest of our lives! This is what makes Sweetwater so unique and talented. On top of that, Julie and Alyssa were EVERYWHERE; our guests were so impressed by them. I would highly recommend taking advantage of the engagement shoot as it allows you to get comfortable with Julie, or whoever your photog is, so that by the time the wedding day comes along you guys feel comfortable in front of the lens. This made a big difference for us and we were excited to see Julie again for our wedding - it was like having another friend there! She was also extremely helpful in navigating complex family dynamics which took a lot of stress off our shoulders. Can’t say enough good things, so happy we found them!

Best Decision

Choosing to work with Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater Portraits was arguably the best decision we made when wedding planning. I knew from the earliest stages of planning that choosing an excellent photography team was going to be a priority for me. I cared very much about ensuring that we had stunning photos, and I wanted to find artists to work with who had a very natural and light style. Julie and Dutch were perfect for what we wanted, and we genuinely enjoyed having them with us on our wedding day. They were an incredible team. They kept everyone calm, organized, and together while also letting us have time to ourselves when we needed it. They remembered all of our most special people by name. A dream come true

The groom and I don't consider ourselves photogenic and were nervous about photo time taking away from our enjoyment of the day. It was clear after the Zoom meeting with Sweetwater that they would make it as painless as possible. What neither of us anticipated was how much we would actually enjoy and value the time spent with Julie and Dutch as well as their video team--Naomi and Megan--on our wedding day. They made us feel comfortable and at ease in front of the cameras, by letting us just be ourselves and be together...and providing helpful posing adjustments when needed lol. Instead of taking away from us experiencing our wedding, they gave us quiet moments to just be still and connected. Everyone told us the day would feel like a whirlwind, but with Julie and Dutch guiding us--it didn't. We spent long quiet moments snuggling on the couch, and we took a lovely walk down to the ceremony space, and while everyone was eating dinner we got to go off into the vineyard at sunset. Not only did they give us these priceless moments, but they captured them so beautifully. Now we--two people who typically cringe at photos of themselves--are excited and proud to hang these in our home and show them to our grandchildren.

All I can say is… WOW! Julie and Dutch are THE BEST!

They made the planning process absolutely seamless and simple. They made us feel so incredibly comfortable on the day of our wedding. And they delivered the most incredible pictures just over 2 weeks after our wedding date.

We received SO many compliments from both friends and family about how amazing Julie / Dutch are and how much fun people had with them on our wedding day! And as we have shared our pictures, we have received even more compliments about how gorgeous their work is!

Wonderful to work with!

Fantastic and fun

All I can say is WOW!! We have spent the last hour reliving our wedding day through these photos and are just so unbelievably happy! The Perfect Photographer Experience

Sweetwater and Julie really were the perfect photographer experience for us and worth every penny. Look no further! Sweetwater is amazing.

Let me just start by saying Julie is the most calming, comforting person to be around on your wedding day. If that alone doesn’t convince you to hire Sweetwater, then just keep reading!

While searching for wedding photographers, we had a couple of important things in mind. 1- My husband & I are not particularly comfortable in front of the camera. We wanted to make sure we hired photographers that could really highlight the candid moments of the day. Natural, happy photos without much posing. 2- We didn’t want the photos to look over white-washed or edited, we wanted them to look like amazing natural photos. Sweetwater absolutely NAILED both of those details.

I warned Julie before our wedding day that it really is not easy to get my husband to stay still long or to pose for photos. She & her husband, Dutch, had no problem at all with that. They captured the most stunning photos of our day & made it absolutely painless. Our portrait sessions were natural & organic. Our family photos were quick & easy. They ended up being the most beautiful photos I’ve ever seen in my life. We have had so many people reaching out saying that they couldn’t believe how stunning our photos came out. (Not kidding, people I haven’t spoken to in 10+ years reached out to let us know that the photos were some of the best they’ve ever seen)

Julie & Dutch listened to our vision & asks for the day & made sure to address & deliver on each & every one. Julie & Dutch are so amazing to be around & were truly a breathe of fresh air on our wedding day. I’m so thrilled we hired them & I already am making excuses to get photos taken again in the future. It was such a highlight of our day & I could not be more thankful.

They’re Pros Who Make You Feel Beautiful

All I can say is wow. Just wow. As many brides can attest, planning a wedding makes you realize that you have opinions on things that you never thought you’d have an opinion on. For me, that was wedding photos. There are a lot of photographers who produce highly stylized - and to be clear, very beautiful - photos. Some give off a dark, glamorous vibe; and others use a sort of tan/whitewashing filter. While I really like those looks, for my wedding, I wanted a photographer whose photos looked less stylized, and more like really good quality, truer-to-life pictures. When I saw Sweetwater’s pics, I knew I’d found my photographer…and that was reaffirmed after I chatted with Dutch, and after he helped my husband and me make decisions about where to take photos, what we wanted to capture, etc.

On the day of the wedding, Dutch and his team were AWESOME. They were organized, attentive, and kept everyone on track. They were also so fun to work with, and they more than played along with the very goofy sense of humor that my husband and I have. Everyone in my wedding party was talking about them, saying how great they were, and for good reason. They killed it.

As for the photos themselves, I’ve gotten so many compliments since posting them. As self-conscious as I am, they made me feel so beautiful, and I cannot recommend booking them enough.

Dutch and his team at Sweetwater are true professionals who know what they’re doing and know how to herd tough wedding parties with a firm, yet warm approach. I’m so, SO glad we hired them for our wedding day.

Beautiful photos

We used Sweetwater for our wedding ceremony in May and our reception in October. Dutch and Hieu did our ceremony together and Hieu shot our reception. Our ceremony photos came out so beautifully, and I know our reception pictures will be the same. They both have such a wonderful, optimistic and calming presence which is so helpful on these big days when so many things can go wrong. I really had a wonderful experience.

Sweetwater is as top notch as they come, really the best of the best! Choosing the right photographer was a job in itself but we couldn’t be happier with how Julie and Dutch treated us from the initial consultation to the end result. There really is a big difference in a high quality photography team and average and that was immediately evident with Sweetwater. Julie and Dutch were friendly, personable, professional and extremely knowledgeable. It’s clear they have been doing this for a long time. They gave us guidance throughout our entire wedding day, treated us like king and queen, and took every shot we had hoped for. They really made us feel like our wedding was one of a kind. Constantly posing for different pictures can get long and awkward, especially if you’ve never done it before, but Julie and Dutch led the way perfectly. And most importantly, of course, their finished product was amazing! Afterwards, they delivered prints to us in a convenient, easily viewable and timely manner. They don’t just dump thousands of pictures on you, they take their time to choose and edit them carefully and proficiently. We can’t wait for the final album! Fantastic Photographers!!!

My husband and I loved working with Julie and Sweetwater! Julie knows all the best places for a wedding shoot in center city Philadelphia. She made us feel at home in front of the camera and worked with us to create a special intimate event for a Father's Day wedding. Julie is quick to respond to questions and a very clear communicator. We highly recommend Sweetwater!!

Worth every photo.

Julie and Dutch honestly may have been one of our favorite parts of wedding planning.

We had that “instant friends” chemistry at our friends wedding and we knew they had to be on our team!
They allowed us to feel comfortable and at ease with our day of plans so we could enjoy every moment of our big day. More so, they easily became a part of the family and we could feel that they genuinely enjoyed taking our photos and shared the joy that we had that day.

Icing on the cake of course is the magic that results any time either one of them has a camera in hand.

We cannot recommend Sweetwater Portraits enough! From the start, we knew we chose the perfect photographer. During our engagement photos, we were immediately grateful for Julie’s calm energy and attention to detail. So, we couldn’t wait to have both Julie and Dutch for the wedding day! Not only did Julie and Dutch produce beautiful photos, but they both were so wonderful to work with. They made our bridal party and us feel so at ease the day of the wedding, and were unfazed by the 9 flower girls and ring bearers under the age of 9! Aside from their amazing energy the day of, they were able to capture every moment perfectly! Julie and Dutch are true professionals, and there is no doubt, Sweetwater Portraits is the best of the best.

Julie and Dutch are the absolute best!!! Don’t even consider another photographer. Not only are they excellent photographers (really they are artists!) but they are amazing people, who we would want to hang out with anytime!

They have a great eye for shots, they don’t miss a moment, and they make you feel natural and comfortable the whole time.

The Super 8 video they make is so cool and unique.

You will never be disappointed with Julie and Dutch. They are the best!

We used one of Sweetwater's associate photographers, Tiffany, for our September 2016 wedding (this review is long overdue!), and we were very pleased with the experience! I spent a lot of time researching photographers and knew Sweetwater's photos would be nice, so what I really want to review is the above and beyond service that I received from Julie specifically. I was very picky about a lot of aspects of the wedding, and a lot of those aspects involved the photographers, and Julie listened to me patiently, made sure we were on the same page about a detailed plan, and she didn't make me feel crazy, even though I think I was a little bit crazy :) Even after the wedding, I still had more questions for Julie, and she took the time to answer everything. When my husband and I sent our thank you notes, we used 4 photos from the wedding for the card, and based on the thank you note, friends of ours who were engaged hired Sweetwater, too. Julie sent us a handwritten thank you note for the referral, and I mention that for two reasons, one, because the photos spoke for themselves, and two, just to underscore how professional, responsive, and committed Julie was before AND after our wedding. I highly recommend Julie and Sweetwater Portraits!!

We feel so fortunate that Sweetwater photographed our engagement session and wedding. Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important wedding-related decisions one can make. The wedding day itself goes by so fast, but the photos really do last forever and help keep the memories of the day alive. We were especially drawn to Julie and Dutch's style of photography. None of their photos are too staged or unnatural. They are candid and truly reflect the subjects of the photos. And that's exactly how we feel about our wedding photos. They are literally perfect. I love looking at them and am so impressed with the quality of their work. Julie and Dutch were also wonderful to work with. You spend a lot of time with your photographer on your wedding day, so you want to make sure that you choose someone you like! They are just really nice people and so easy to be around. Our wedding party and families also commented on how impressed they were with them. We can't recommend them highly enough!

I first met Julie when I had been a bridesmaid at my now Maid of Honor's wedding at the Union League back in 2014. I absolutely loved Julie's sweet and calming demeanor, and the photographs from my best friend's wedding were stunning. When Julie and Dutch were available for my recent October wedding, I was ecstatic and knew right away that they would do an amazing job. They didn't disappoint! Both Julie and Dutch worked so well with all members of our wedding party and guests, and our photo gallery is absolutely phenomenal. We've been receiving so many compliments on the sweet moments captured and the quality of the pictures. They are truly masters of their craft and love their work -- it's reflected in the end-product. We absolutely loved working with them and couldn't provide a higher recommendation.

Sweetwater Portraits was AMAZING!!! It's difficult to adequately put into words how much we truly enjoyed working with them. Julie and Dutch are professional, inviting, and immensely talented. We looked at three other photographers, but from the moment we met with Julie and Dutch they made us feel at-ease and we knew they were the only people we wanted capturing our wedding. During the planning we really appreciated that they listened to what we wanted, made suggestions, and helped us create a schedule that allowed us to get great photographs while also enjoying ourselves. We decided to do an engagement shoot, wedding photography, and Super8 with Sweetwater. The day of our wedding they were fantastic, being there for every moment without really being seen. They made an effort to get to know the family and bridal party, making us feel like they were old friends enjoying every moment of the day with us. The photos are gorgeous and the video brings us to tears every time we watch it. Sweetwater couldn't capture the love, emotion, excitement, and fun of that day any better. We are so fortunate to be able to have the photos and video to remember our wedding day for years to come, and feel so lucky to have found Julie and Dutch and experience their wonderful talent.

Julie and Dutch are phenomenal! They are masters of their craft. We felt so at-ease with them from the moment we first met them. We had a great time during our Engagement Shoot as well, during which they kept us laughing and totally comfortable. The shots turned out great.

On the day of the wedding, they were absolutely perfect. They hung out with us while we were getting ready, taking beautiful pictures, while getting to know the bridal party and our family. These relationships they built made everyone comfortable throughout, so that they could put together a fantastic collection of photos. During the ceremony and reception, we barely even noticed they were there, and yet they captured every candid moment.

They’re incredibly talented photographers, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.

Julie and Dutch are the absolute best!! It's hard to put into words how much we enjoyed working with them for our wedding. Throughout the planning process they truly listened to what we were looking for. When we got the pictures back they took our breath away! Julie and Dutch are amazing to work with leading up to the wedding and they helped make our wedding day so special! During the planning, they gave great suggestions that were so helpful to us. They are experts at what they do! Julie even did a site visit to our venue with us since they hadn't been there before for a wedding. This attention to detail and commitment to getting the absolute best pictures was just one example of Julie and Dutch going above and beyond! Julie also helped us create a wedding timeline that was extremely beneficial to us and our planning! We were so impressed with Julie and Dutch from day one and their willingness to go that extra mile was greatly appreciated. In a word, AWESOME. The pictures turned out beautifully- we couldn't have asked for anything better. Julie and Dutch captured every moment with grace, style and ease. They are true professionals, who will go above and beyond to make your wedding pictures perfect, literally. Hiring a photographer, in my opinion, is one of the most important decisions of the day because they're with you from start to finish. You want someone who won't intrude on those special moments between you and your partner (like the first look), but who can capture them at the same time. It's a delicate balancing act that Julie and Dutch have mastered. They were THE calming presence during those hectic hours leading up to the ceremony and reception. Beyond the wedding day, the process of actually reviewing/choosing the photos and receiving the albums couldn't have been easier. You will be in very good hands with Julie and Dutch- and chances are they'll probably become your friends! That's just the kind of people they are.

When I started to look for a photographer, I knew that I didn't want anyone typical or the usual "wedding look". When I set out to find a photographer for my engagement photos and discovered Julie and Dutch's site, I was drawn to their work because none of the photos looked posed or unnatural; they exuded so much life and energy that I could almost imagine the sounds and conversations surrounding the moments they'd captured. I’m thrilled to say that I feel the same when looking through the photo gallery created for my fiancé and me—my fiancé, Ty, was especially happy about the nod-to-Wes-Anderson doorway shots! Our daughter and son-in-law (R&M) chose Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater (J&D) as they were paying for their wedding photography, so we didn't meet them until the wedding. We used Front & Palmer's vendor list for all of our vendors, a very wise choice. We had total confidence in R&M's choice, especially after R&M's first meeting and how excited they were to work with them (J&D). The engagement pix were perfect and beautiful, and my husband and I were so excited to meet J&D at the wedding. They brought Matt with them and he was terrific too. Not only were they warm, engaging, and attentive: they took the BEST pix! Now we have the task of choosing the best ones for our album, no easy job because there are so many great ones! Thanks guys for everything. Can't wait to see the super-8 video Dutch is producing! I sell wedding invitations, and as a wedding vendor I will be recommending Sweetwater to everyone who inquires!

I found Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater Portraits by accident, searching for photos of the wedding venue my (now) husband and I had just booked. Their photos were beautiful, natural, and seemed to really reflect the distinct personalities of the bride and groom -- I was immediately captivated and thrilled when I learned they still had our date available. After we met Julie and Dutch in person, I figured out how they are able to consistently produce such high-quality work: they took the time to get know us as people.

Working with Julie and Dutch on our wedding day was one of the best decisions we made in the entire wedding planning process. They helped us come up with a shooting schedule that minimized stress and maximized the time we could spend with each other, showed incredible poise and expertise managing our enormous bridal party for group shoots and keeping us on schedule with the family portraits (no easy feat since we have huge families), and may actually be wizards because they basically appeared out of thin air when our maid of honor speech somehow happened too early, making sure they didn't that miss that special moment. Most importantly, we felt comfortable and at ease around them, and our photos reflect that. It took me months to decide which I wanted to frame, and even longer to make selections for our album, because there were simply so many photos that I absolutely loved. I can't recommend Julie and Dutch at Sweetwater Portraits enough, and I'm so grateful that we have these incredible images to commemorate the best day of our lives.

From the first day we met with Julie and Dutch, we knew they were the ones we wanted by our side on our wedding day. They made us feel comfortable right from the start with the ease of conversation and how they described their style of photography. Their love of what they do was clear, along with how much they care about the couples they work with. They really took the time to get to know us, so when the big day came-- we felt like we were spending it with friends we had known for quite some time. They captured every moment in a natural and organic way. Their sweet nature made us feel comfortable and at ease-- even when it started storming on our wedding day. Julie described to me how beautiful the indoor location would be and she was absolutely right. When we received our photo gallery, we were so happy with all the emotions and moments they captured that day. I realized that it didn't matter that we weren't in the vineyard on a sunny day because they captured the genuine feelings of love we have for each other. Had we picked another photographer who only relies on a great backdrop for pictures, we surely would have been disappointed. What these two do is not just photography, it's art. We are so thankful to have had Julie and Dutch as part of our wedding day!

Leading up to our wedding, Julie was available and quick to answer any questions that I had. On the day of our wedding, a lot of details were changed due to the weather. Even with all of the changes, they handled everything with ease and were able to capture the most amazing shots that truly represented the emotion of the day. My husband and I hired Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater Portraits for our wedding photographers and it was one of the best decisions we made throughout the planning process. I found their work online and was immediately enamored with their photography. It was some of the most beautiful wedding photography I had seen and we knew we had to meet with them. When we met with them, we were immediately at ease - having a cold drink on their roofdeck overlooking the Philly skyline - doesn't get much better. The next day, we met with a different photographer and left the meeting and immediately emailed and booked Julie and Dutch. We came to the realization that our photographer would be with us ALL day during the wedding and we would want someone that we liked to be around. Julie and Dutch were great to work with - fit right in with our family and friends and made us feel completely at ease having our picture taken a million times. They were extremely easy going - despite the fact that it was unusually hot and humid for September and despite the fact that my now father-in-law ran over a bag of camera lenses with his car prior to the wedding (!). My husband is not the most photogenic, but they were able to make it work and got so many great pictures of us. We have recently gotten all of our photographs and we are completely overwhelmed with how great they turned out. Everyone we show them to is so taken aback by how beautiful they look. We have no idea how we will narrow them down for our album and certainly not for choosing which to frame. Certainly a good problem to have. Julie and Dutch are seriously talented and a ton of fun to work with. You are making a mistake if you do not hire them for your wedding/engagement photos/baby photos or anything else. I (almost) cannot wait to have children so we can have Julie photograph them!

We can't recommend Julie and Dutch enough! They photographed our wedding this past May, and were such a pleasure to work with! They are lovely, easygoing people who really put you at ease from the moment you meet them. We were nervous about being photographed and looking awkward, but they really make you feel comfortable. I would also suggest booking an engagement shoot with Julie as well, we felt like it helped us get to know her a little better, making us feel even more comfortable on the actual day. (and the pictures were awesome!)

They are accessible and reliable, always answered our questions promptly. They're also organized--which was great as they helped us plan a timeline of the day.
They captured all of the important moments of our day, and hundreds more, but did a great job blending in with the guests--not obtrusive in any way. Also, our bridal party loved hanging out with them (which I think says it all--spending hours getting photographed can be tiresome). Our proofbook arrived 4 weeks after the wedding and the pictures are BEAUTIFUL! We have received so many compliments on the photos so far, they are extremely talented.
You absolutely can't go wrong booking Sweetwater Portraits, Julie and Dutch are incredible!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Julie and Dutch for our wedding on 4/26/14 at the Phoenixville Foundry. These two are just the best that is out there and I cannot recommend them enough. Their work is unbelievable - they have an incredibly artistic eye, but also have a wonderful way of capturing emotion with their photographs. Not only did they make us look amazing, but they got tons of photos of our friends and family having fun on our wedding day, which was exactly what we wanted. And they were fast in getting our photos to us! The photos are so great that we would have been happy to have waited longer for them, but we were glad to receive them as soon as we did. The other thing about Julie and Dutch is that they are just really nice, easygoing people. Several family members commented on this after the wedding, and it really made a difference to have photographers who made us feel comfortable and who we wanted to be around us on our wedding day. We had a wonderful experience with them and hope that our friends book them for their weddings so we will get to work with them again :)

Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater were incredible to work with. We met with Julie initially. I was really nervous about the idea of having a formal photographer. I'm a mature bride who was not doing a traditional white gown, etc. She put me at ease completely. My photos are amazing - with colors popping and some of the most fun candid shots I've ever seen. Working with Sweetwater Portraits was the best decision we made for our wedding! Julie and Dutch were so easy to work with and every photo was beautiful. My husband hates having his picture taken and he even commented on how much fun he had during our session. Dutch was an absolute champ as he entertained our little ring bearer who was reluctant to smile during our portraits. Julie and Dutch have an amazing eye for lighting and setting. My husband and I have been married for just over a year and I am still swooning over the amazing work that both Dutch and Julie created for us on our wedding day. We interviewed a number of photographers in the NYC area, but when we met Julie and Dutch we just knew they were the perfect choice to capture our wedding day. Their photography style beautiful: not staged, just natural, lovely photos with minimal photo editing. I just can't say enough... they're simply the best!

Dutch Huff, of Sweetwater Portraits, is an incredible talented and unique film producer. My husband Mike and I were married in Cape May on November 9th, 2012. Our theme was vintage/classic and we wanted our wedding style to stand the test of time. We weren't looking for a traditional wedding videographer (which is more like a hollywood movie production- multiple people with bright lights in your face all night). Sweetwater portraits produces incredibly beautiful silent films on super8 video.

Having only spoken with Dutch on the phone prior to our wedding, Mike and I felt as though he was one of our guests at the wedding. He learned a lot about us prior to our wedding so that he could create a final product that fit our personalities. He blended right in capturing the most special moments of the happiest day of my life. To be honest, I never really noticed he was there (which is fantastic quality of a photographer or videographer).

The finished product truly brought tears to my eyes. It is incredible how a silent film can capture the many emotions of one day so much better than sound. The raw, artistic feel of the film was so original, yet so classic and beautiful. Dutch added in video of the crashing shore break, the old-fashioned elevator dial going up to the top floor where my husband was getting ready, the flowers blowing in the wind showing no signs of damage from hurricane Sandy, the tops of guests' happy heads stuffing their faces with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Dutch so eloquently pieced together every memorable moment of our day in a few short minutes in a way I've never seen before.

Before we got married, dear family friends offered us some wonderful words of wisdom: when your wedding is over all you really walk away with is your spouse and your wedding photos - choose your partner and wedding photographer carefully. WE LOVE JULIE AND DUTCH!!! I would highly recommend Sweetwater Portraits without any hesitation!! My husband and I have never been professionally photographed so choosing someone that we felt comfortable with was very important to us. From the second I met them I knew they were the perfect fit. Julie and Dutch shot our July 28, 2012 wedding at Villanova/Union League - and they were incredible! I would highly recommend them to anyone. First off, Julie is extemely responsive - from the very first day I reached out to talk to her all the way up until now. They are a husband & wife duo which makes the experience even better - they work so well together and they made us feel extremely comfortable. We first met them in person at our engagement shoot in NYC (yes they traveled to NYC to see us!!) - it was so nice to get to know them & it really made us so comfortable on our wedding day. Julie made sure to set up time with me before the wedding to confirm who I wanted in our family portraits and any meaninful/important things that I wanted her to capture on my wedding day. We also set a detailed timeline so I knew where we would be throughout the day. On the wedding day, it was almost as if they weren't even there (which is a GREAT thing!). And I was really impressed with how calm Julie & Dutch were the entire day. I imagine it is pretty stressful trying to coordinate 20+ people for a picture! Our entire bridal party and family loved Julie and Dutch too. They are a wonderful couple who are both so professional and very good at what they do! One month after our wedding, we got the full online gallery to view! I couldn't believe the quick turnaround! And the pictures came out better than I ever could have imagined. She captured things that I had no idea happened on my wedding day and I couldn't be happier to see these photos. I really can't emphasize enough how great Julie and Dutch are. Besides picking each other – selecting Sweetwater Portraits as our photographers was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding! Julie and Dutch are amazingly talented photographers who obviously love what they do.

My husband and I took selecting a wedding photographer very seriously. We were paying for our wedding ourselves and with me as a designer and my husband is a hobby photographer we were probably more critical than typical customers.

From beginning to end Julie and Dutch were professional, accommodating – and fun to work with! Julie and Dutch were so fun and personable; it really felt like they were wonderful old friends there to support us throughout our special day. As a couple who does not like to be the center of attention, we really appreciated how comfortable they made us feel in front of the camera.

Before the wedding Julie really helped with suggestions on timing and when photos were to take place. This really helped eliminate potential wedding day stress. On the way to the wedding there were some mix-ups and I (the bride) got lost on the way to the site – thankfully Julie was there to get us back on track and she had set up our schedule so that this delay didn’t ruin the day.

The photos are spectacular and so much more than we could have hoped for them to be! It is amazing to look back at the photos they took of our wedding because we feel like we are reliving the day and discovering new details that we overlooked. Julie and Dutch managed to capture every detail without us noticing - from the candid expressions on our guests’ faces to every personal touch throughout our special day.

Julie and Dutch are two brilliant photographers! They were not only able to capture the true essence of our wedding and who we are as a couple but they did it with such joy and passion. You can tell that they absolutely love what they do. Another thing that made them so incredible on the wedding day is that they never missed a photography moment and yet I never saw them. Wow! Julie and Dutch are truly talented professionals. My daughter and son in law used sweetwater for their engagement session and wedding. Both Julie and Dutch are such fun to be around that you feel like you have a great friend with you throughout the day.
My husband was a commercial photographer for many years and he is still commenting on how aware of every detail Julie and Dutch were. They found the perfect candid shots throughout the day, yet also gave us beautiful formal shots. We wanted a photographer who would capture the emotion and energy throughout the day, they gave us this and more. At no point in the wedding did I ever feel like they were intrusive. They just seamlessly knew where to be and captured each moment of the wedding.
When I look at the photographs I feel as though I am both reliving and seeing new elements to a phenominal day.

Sweetwater Portraits was the perfect choice for our wedding day. From the beginning Julie was professional, accomodating of our schedules, responsive and a lot of fun to work with! On our wedding day Julie and Dutch were wonderful. They were everywhere getting all of the photos but in a very unobstrusive way. We heard from multiple wedding guests how pleasant our photographers were.

And the photos! We just received our proofs and the photos are beyond beautiful! They captured everything we wanted and so much more. I don't know how we will ever be able to select photos for our album because there are so many wonderful ones. They are everything that you hope your wedding photos will be.

Julie and Dutch were amazing! They were one of the best vendor choices we made for our wedding, if not the best choice. When you think about it, the photographers may be the most important vendor you choose, because you have the pictures for a lifetime and they are the only vendor who is with you for the entire day - and Julie and Dutch went above and beyond in every category.

From the moment we met them through the album-making process, they both have been warm, professional and easily accessible. Before the wedding, Julie met with me twice to run over the schedule of the day and asked if there were any specific people, places or types of photographs that we wanted. During this process, she even gave me a couple general wedding tips which were extremely helpful. Anytime I ever emailed Julie from scheduling our first meet-up through until now, she has always responded very quickly and thoroughly.

On the actual wedding day, Julie and Dutch were both on-time and they were an amazing presence to have with us. They were calm, seemed genuinely happy and were what I would call "quietly commanding." They were extremely well-organized in keeping us on schedule and organizing the wedding party and parents in a direct, yet polite fashion. They did exactly what we had wanted them to do in terms of photographing us in certain locations, getting particular people, etc. They photographed us for the entire lenghth of time we had asked for and didn't start packing up until after that time had passed (as opposed to some vendors who might include set-up in the "time"). In total, Julie and Dutch were with us for 8 hours and their energy levels stayed high the entire time. For a large part of the ceremony and reception, we forgot they were even there, because they had blended into the crowd so well. No worries about intruding lens in your face here! It wasn't until I noticed Julie packing up about twenty minutes after their services had "officially ended" that I thought, "Oh, Julie and Dutch are still here!"

And the photos! Oh the photos! They are gorgeous! They are photos we will be truly happy to have and proud to show for a lifetime. Julie and Dutch's style comes across as so bright and fresh. They are true artists, yet unlike some artists who would focus more on the surroundings than the person, they bring out the energy of the individual and truly capture moments.

Have I convinced you yet? I am now permanently a Sweetwater Portraits groupie! I hope that we can work with them again in the future for family portraits and I keep recommending them to everyone I know who is looking for a wedding photographer. Simply phenomenal!

I have recommended Sweetwater Portraits to every one of my recently engaged friends and family. My husband and I met with 3 photographers, Julie being our first. I knew 5 minutes into our meeting that this is who I wanted to capture my wedding. I was really nervous about being photographed and during the Engagement shoot, Julie, made both my husband and I feel very comfortable and managed to make us look great depite the 96 degree weather. The guestbook that she created with our engagement photos came out perfect. Julie and her husband, Dutch, are truly an amazing team and managed to capture so much warmth, beauty and love on our wedding day. If you ask me that is exactly is what your wedding photos should portray. No photos were forced or too posed. Working with Julie and Dutch was an absolute treat. We live in DC, but planning over email and phone with Julie was easy and worry free. Our pictures are the perfect illustration of our wonderful wedding. From the girls getting ready and tears walking down the aisle to an impromptu moon-bounce session and dancing all night, Julie & Dutch did a fantastic job capturing our wedding on film in a beautiful candid and journalistic style.

The ceremony was at St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel at Villanova University and in addition to capturing the beautiful church, Julie and Dutch did a fantastic job spotting picture-perfect locations all over campus (and dealing patiently with the August heat). The reception was nearby at Montrose Mansion in Villanova. Julie and Dutch again did a great job recommending good photo locations all over the grounds and got us through the more traditional portraits and family shots with plenty of time to spare for our cocktail hour.

We didn’t want a videographer, and with Sweetwater Photography we really didn’t need one. Their photos illustrated every aspect of our wedding, big or small, with very little guidance from us. We had the time of our lives at our wedding reception and we’re so happy to have the pictures to help us remember that for many, many years to come.

I knew that I had to hire Sweetwater Portraits to photograph our wedding after they did the weddings of both a family member and a friend of ours. From the moment we contacted Julie she was professional, friendly and extremely helpful. Julie is not only an amazing photographer she is also a respectable business owner. In the months leading up to our wedding Julie was very responsive and organized. Julie even drove to DE to scope out good picture locations at our reception site which was very helpful with a tight timeline the day of the wedding. Julie and Dutch were AWESOME. They are based in Philly but were able to come out to Bucks County to shoot our wedding. They were very easy going and knew what needed to be done to get the photos we wanted taken. They didn't force anything upon us and just went with the flow. Julie and Dutch are unbelievable. When my proofs were given to me (a MONTH after my wedding day!) I seriously had to walk away from my computer numerous times because I could not stop playing the slide show and watching the pictures. Thankfully, a thunderstorm knocked out my internet connection and I could actually focus on my work again. I could have stayed up all night looking at my pictures!

Words absolutely cannot express how thankful I was for the work that Julia and Dutch produced. They captured my husband and me in a way that truly shows how much we love each other. I love each and every picture. The candid photos of my family are amazing. I cried when I saw the pictures of my mom. Julie and Dutch are magical.

It would have been possible for me to have looked so beautiful in the photos without Julie's calming presence. During my bridal portraits, when my mom and my sister were fighting, Julie were only concerned about me. It was such a relief. She asked me so many times if I was okay, and it meant the world to me. When we were taking portraits our wedding portraits in a garden, Julie made me genuinely laugh and smile. I only hope other brides can have the experience that I did.

I know that this is not the last time I will have the pleasure of working with Julie and Dutch. I feel so fortunate to have met them both. My husband and I truly felt relieved and calm knowing that they were in charge during our day. Please don't ever leave the Philadelphia area!

Julie and her husband Dutch photographed our wedding in August in Cape May, NJ. I found Sweetwater Portraits through some intense searching of photographers in the Philadelphia area (and even outside), and I fell in love with her work. Julie has a real knack for capturing emotion and interactions between people. Although her style is kind of like photojournalism, she also takes some more creative shots which I LOVE. On top of that, Julie and Dutch are such sweet people, and were very calm but knew how to get the shots we needed when we were behind schedule (because of my hair/makeup artist) before our ceremony.

We are thrilled with our pictures, and every time we look through them we feel like we get to experience our wedding all over again. :)

My husband and I had two long meetings with Julie at a coffee shop where she really took the time to get to know us and figure out our style. She was always easy to get in touch with and both Julie and Dutch were early the day of wedding. They were very professional throughout the entire day and made everything...amazingly easy and fun. Julie and Dutch of Sweetwater Portraits are great to work with - encouraging, helpful and professional. We actually liked them so much when they shot my sister's wedding two years ago, that when we got engaged, we immediately thought of them. After comparing prices, points of view and portfolios with other photographers, we decied to hire Sweetwater to do our wedding as well.
Their final product is absolutely beautiful and we are asked by anyone who sees the photos, "Who took these? They are gorgeous!"
Julie and Dutch were perfect with all of the guests- from capturing the fidgety little kids to making our elderly relatives feel at ease. I do not have enough good words in my vocabulary to explain how AMAZING Julie and Dutch were as our wedding photographers! From my first meeting with Julie, I knew that she was someone I wanted following me around on my wedding day. And she did not disappoint! Wow! That is the first word that came to mind when we opened up the link to our pictures we received from Julie & Dutch. The pictures were ABSOLUTELY perfect! It brought back the day all over again, and made it even more memorable. We were just in awe, and can't thank Julie & Dutch enough for providing us with amazing creativity to bring us back to our special day. Julie and Dutch are the best! They are so nice and extremely talented. Mike and I were totally at ease while they photographed us. They made taking portraits fun. The intention of the photographer is definitely reflected in the image, and Julie and Dutch, an amazing duo, reflected the best intention in every shot! While Julie spent time making portraits with us ladies as we got ready at my home, Dutch was with all the gents downtown at the hotel. So fun! It was the perfect way to warm up for all the family and formal portraits that came later, and having the two of them there who have had so much wedding experience(including their own!) allowed us to feel totally comfortable. They were both relaxed and full of charm as they skillfully maneuvered through all the event locations of the day looking for creative and unique ways to record every detail, which they did so beautifully. You can tell that they really care by their enthusiasm and by their creative skills. We were so fortunate to have such brilliant artists with keen eyes and wonderful people with warm hearts capturing the beauty and love we felt on our wedding day.

Julie and Dutch were FANTASTIC! We were so lucky to not only have 2 incredible photographers but also to spend our wedding day with 2 of the nicest people you'll ever work with. Everything was perfect, the pictures are incredible, and the guests had no idea that they were even there. Choosing them was the best wedding-related decision that we made!

Julie and Dutch were terrific additions to our wedding. Not only are they exceptional artists, they are gracious, lovely, unobtrusive people to have working so intimately at such a personal occasion as a wedding. The engagement shoot provided our family a chance to get comfortable with them and their style as well as glean some early photos that worked well for save the date cards and photos to be displayed on the tables at the reception. I could not provide a stronger recommendation for a photography team.

We absolutely loved our photgraphers. First and foremost, the pictures came out great! Secondly, Julie and Dutch were amazing to work with. They were very professional from a preparation standpoint, returning all calls immediately. They actually drove down from Philadelphia to Cape May a night early because they had never taken photos at Congress Hall before, and they wanted to look for the best location to shoot our portraits. On the day of the wedding, with a rather large wedding party, they handled eveyone with grace, and a humor, and it felt like having friends shoot our wedding. They were very thorough during the portraits, but it was still fun. Finally, during the ceremony and reception, they disappeared or so it seemed, and my husband and I wondered if they could possibly have captured the wedding because we really didn't feel their presence except for the odd shot we asked them to take, but when we got the pictures back, they had managed to chronicle the entire event, catching things we didn't even know happened. And the best part is, they caught everyone smiliing.

We decided to go with Sweetwater after seeing the great work they did at our friends' wedding, and haven't regretted it for a minute. Julie & Dutch were both incredibly nice & personable and went out of their way to work with us throughout the entire process. We would recommend them to anyone who insists on the highest quality pictures, both technically and artistically, and wants the process to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. We loved the pictures and slideshow (as did all our friends/family), and can't wait to see what the final album looks like!

As soon as we got engaged, I knew I wanted a fabulous photographer for our wedding day. Our wedding planner sent us a list of reputable photographers and the minute I came across Sweetwater's website, I was in love. We immediately put an email through to see if they were free for our wedding date. What struck me from the beginning were the vibrant pictures and the emotions that spilled off the page. I literally felt as though I was a guest at these weddings. As I continued to look through Sweetwater's website and blog, I was struck by the way each and every couple was photographed in such a distinct and unique manner. Simply put, each blog post was different then the next. All these other photographers simply put the couple in the same rote poses and clicked away. Yes, there were beautiful skylines, lighting, and editing, but the feelings were a tad muted.
After we got the great news that Sweetwater was available for our wedding, we went ahead and booked our "getting to know you" meeting with Julie and Dutch. Time flew and by the end of the meeting, my husband and I felt as though the four of us were all old friends. It hit me that this was the every reason why Sweetwater's pictures varied so much by couple! They actually take the time to invest and develop a relationship with their couples; in turn; the vein in which Julie and Dutch photograph is so reflective of the couple's love, interaction, and personality.
I love looking at out pictures simply because of the way my husband I were captured. Yes, Julie and Dutch managed to make us look so beautiful and handsome but they also did a miraculous job of capturing our spirits.

Julie and Dutch were wonderful! Yes, their packages may appear to be on the pricey side, but after their professionalism and enthusiasm the day-of, I would pay twice as much to have them do another event with us. They are both really low key and fun, and their easy manner just put us at ease (since we are hardly professional models). Although I knew that they were very talented photographers before hiring them, I did not know that they would work as hard as they did to easily organize and facilitate our day. Taking pictures in the 40 degree weather (outside!) was not what we were expecting, but Julie and Dutch made the best of it. If our flower girl was getting cold, they sent her inside to warm up and easily switched gears to shooting another subset of family-- all told, the two of them were probably outside the longest, but neither complained. They scouted locations for photos that would be an easy walk for the grandparents. Honestly, I have no doubt that the photos will be more beautiful than we could even imagine... but it's those immeasurable qualities (like friendliness and efficiency) that made them such a huge part of our special day.

We couldn't have been happier with Sweetwater Portraits! They captured our wedding with striking beauty and clarity, from the big events to the smaller, more personal moments. Personality is an important part of choosing wedding photographer, and both my husband and I felt that they enhanced our day with their professionalism and calmness. We felt comfortable with them immediately and had a great time shooting with them!

Also of note - Julie had to have foot surgery a few months before our wedding, and therefore was still on crutches on our big day. Sweetwater offered to bring in a third shooter, Tiffany Atlas, at no additional charge to us. Tiffany was also very professional and worked seamlessly in conjunction with Julie and Dutch.

I would absolutely, wholeheartedly, recommend Sweetwater Portraits for your wedding.

Julie & Dutch were spectacular photographers for my December 2009 wedding- we couldnt be happier with the results & CANNOT wait to see the album in a few months! Julie took the time to get to know us a couple, and to hear about all the details of the wedding. As a result, I feel that her work encompassed not only all the usual pictures taken at a wedding, but all the unique details that we as brides put so much effort into! Both Julie & Dutch were extremely professional, yet easy-going and fun, which put us all at ease, and it shows in our photos. We thank them for doing an awesome job, and will most definitely be recommending them to family & friends in the future!
