The surf club was incredible I was amazed with the location it is literally right on the ocean! We can't thank you all enough for letting us have our wedding here. Thank you thank you!!

The setting was like something out of a dream—lush greenery, stunning ocean views, and the perfect blend of tropical vibes and intimate charm. The photos speak for themselves!

But what really made our day unforgettable was the incredible staff. From start to finish, they went above and beyond, making sure every detail was perfect. They handled everything with such care and made us and our guests feel so welcomed and at ease. It was like being surrounded by family!

I had the pleasure of hosting my wedding at the Surf Club and stayed at Paia Inn for 2 nights to follow. Tyler was my event coordinator and made everything seamless. I didn't have to worry about a single thing all day. My family and friends had a blast and they made me feel like royalty. They worked with my budget and it was better than I ever imagined!

Short answer? Don't do it. Save your money, time and heart. 100/10 NOT WORTH IT. You deserve to be treated like a human being worthy of respect, compassion and care, and I promise with all my heart you will NOT receive that kind of treatment here.

Long answer? The venue itself is beautiful. I feel almost bad writing this review bc its like punishing the child for the wrongdoings of the parent, but the owner is the person you'll be dealing with and he will make your entire experience miserable. As a local resident, Paia is one of my favorite places on island and finding out about such a gorgeous, multi-faceted, inclusive venue there was a dream come true. Every wedding planner I asked about Surf Club gave me a really tepid, evasive answer (I understand that they can't give details) but I wasn't to be deterred with the only words of warning being "their management is a little all over the place." What a freaking UNDERSTATEMENT. After searching all over creation for a point of contact, we finally found Natalia who showed us around and was overall really nice and seemed knowledgeable as the property manager. We decided to use her as our Day Of Coordinator as well and for a while she was great. The day our final payment went through, 3 months before our wedding date, we stopped hearing from her. We actually NEVER heard from her again. We called/emailed/texted/went to the location, EVERYTHING and to this day we have never heard back. After weeks of trying to find a new point person we finally got in contact with the front desk agent of SC's sister company Paia Inn with 5 WEEKS LEFT BEFORE OUR WEDDING. Vanya was as helpful as she could be and directed us to our new Coordinator, Kuuipo, who literally saved our wedding, and was able to get us access to the property so we could do a walk thru. When Natalia had showed us the venue on two previous occasions she pointed out many installments that she claimed were permanent (bistro lights, wires to hang decorations from, etc) and not only were these NONEXISTENT but the ice machine and kitchen facilities were now broken. Vanya gave us the owner's number, Michael Baskin, so we could contact him about the state of his venue and ask for a partial refund seeing as the property was in significantly worse shape than before. This man not only refused to answer our calls/texts/emails, but when he finally DID answer he was rude, hung up after hearing our names, and blocked our number. When he finally responded to the email we sent he stated that no returns or refunds were "in the budget" and basically said too bad, so sad. No matter how many times we tried to reason with him he either didn't respond or just repeated himself. They promised to get the ice machine working by our wedding date and have a property manager on site, but that property manager contacted us 5 DAYS BEFORE OUR WEDDING and said that none of this was in his job description and he quit. The ice machine was not only NOT fixed before the wedding but the water was also broken and there was the worst rotten smell reeking from the air stream bar because of it (I felt so bad for the bartenders). We had to buy our own lights and string them up ourselves, bring our own ice, and handle everything ourselves.

I wish I could say nicer things but Michael Baskin is ruining a beautiful location by being a disrespectful, manipulative, money-mongering, uncaring owner and it's honestly so, so sad. Save yourself the heartbreak, it's seriously NOT worth it.
