About

Hi, we are Sun in my Belly. We wear a few hats that keep us pretty busy, as we are a breakfast, lunch, and dinner café, as well as a full-service catering company. We live in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta but travel all over the southeast for events and weddings. We love delicious food, whimsical decor, and friendly folks. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

We were founded in 1996 by Alison Lueker, executive chef and co-mastermind behind Sun in my Belly Café Catering. Alison wanted to make her mark by creating an exciting, visually-driven, haute cuisine catering company for Atlanta. She was one of the first chefs in town to champion seasonally fresh, local fare that featured an artful flair, distinguished by intricate, nature-driven themes that are woven into all of her signature dishes. After traveling the world and finishing culinary school in Santa Fe, Alison landed back in Atlanta, where she decided to create the kind of food that fulfilled her passion for gorgeous, delectable, and uniquely decadent cuisine.

In 1998, Alison partnered with Max LeBlanc to take over a Kirkwood kitchen and bring the catering business to another level. Max’s background in both quantitative business analysis and operations management was exactly what we needed. He put himself to work creating a smoothly-run catering business and searching for a permanent home for the Sun in my Belly Neighborhood Café in Kirkwood. After opening our Kirkwood Café in the historic Bailey’s Hardware building for brunch lunch, Max and Alison balanced the cafe and catering business, while creating beautiful dishes, scrumptious meals, and phenomenal atmospheres for every occasion. Finally, after serving the Kirkwood community for almost a decade, we are proud and excited to open our doors for dinner service in 2012.

Megan went over and beyond!!

I worked a wedding as the photographer at the Decatur Courthouse and had a fantastic experience with Megan Elise Cook from Sun in My Belly. She was incredibly professional, organized, and went above and beyond... She made sure things ran smoothly for not only the guests but vendors!! As someone who follows a vegan diet, I’m often used to being an afterthought at events like these, but Megan made sure I had a delicious vegan meal from a local restaurant. It was such a kind and considerate gesture that meant A LOT during a long workday!

Beyond that, she was kind, professional, and calm under pressure. Exactly what you need for your wedding day!! Sun in my Belly is lucky to have someone like her on the team! The other staff members were also extremely professional. I unfortunately didn't get their names but their kindness was VERY appreciated!!

SIMB was amazming caterer from start to finish

My wife and I booked SIMB to cater our wedding, and we could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out. Megan sold us on the vision, and the food was just amazing.

The Management: Megan made us feel comfortable and was exceptional from the start and she made the process so easy. She worked extremely hard to coordinate with our other vendors and definitely went the extra mile. When she was unavailable, Max stepped up and didn't miss a beat.

The Food: Our guests are still raving (post month) about the food, and we have gotten multiple "it was the best food i've ever had at a wedding" comments. The food was so good we had no leftovers at all which is always a good sign.

The Service: The SIMB catering staff was professional and exceptional. Everyone was so friendly and really brought this amazing process with SIMB full circle. From the bartenders to the servers they crushed it!

Conclusion: Call Megan NOW if you are are looking for a caterer. You won't be disappointed and your guests will always remember a wedding SIMB catered.

Sun in my Belly is the BEST.

We had a great experience working with Megan, Max and the entire SIMB team. Not only will your food be amazing (seriously - our guests are still talking about it), but the service and level of detail is unmatched. They went above and beyond and made everything so seamless. I can't recommend them enough.

We had an event at our home for 40 guests earlier this month
Communication with Megan was excellent from the start to finish. The team that came to our house to set up, prepare and serve were top notch professionals!! Thank you Michelle, Jon and Chef Coach!! You are the BEST!!
The variety of dishes are incredible and SIMB is very flexible with menu choices. The tapas selections are outstanding and delicious, as well as the desserts! All our guests raved about the food! SIMB exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend Sun In My Belly for ALL your catering needs!

Delicious Food For Our Wedding Day

We used Sun in My Belly to cater our wedding at The Wimbish House on April 15th. From initial contact, it felt like we were in good, knowledgeable, experienced hands, which was one relief from the stress of planning our wedding. The food at the tasting was delicious, and we knew our guests would love it. We chose to go with two tapas stations with shrimp and grits, haricots verts, caesar salad, panzanella salad, wild mushroom ravioli, bourbon + pecan grilled chicken, mac n cheese, and coca cola glazed ham. They were able to accommodate a few guests who are vegan (and one with a soy allergy) with a rigatoni lentil bolognese and vegan panzanella salad. It meant a lot to us that they were able to make these modifications. We also had the fried chicken endive cups, carolina pulled pork on corn muffins, and fried green tomatoes (*drool*) as our hors d'oeuvres. For dessert, we had a special 24" wide cake from Cake by Anna and mini red velvet and mini smores cupcakes. (Thanks to Esther and team for cutting that cake!) Everything went absolutely flawlessly and multiple times our guests told us how much they enjoyed the food and the wedding. Thanks again to the SIMB team for all their hard work. We'll be recommending them to all our friends and family and dining at the restaurant again soon.

Best Wedding Vendor Experience

My husband and I used Sun in My Belly for our wedding venue and caterer. The event and food went well beyond our expectations. The staff were extremely attentive and communicative. It was the perfect wedding and every guest raved about the food. We are so happy how things turned out. We highly recommend them and they’re a delicious brunch spot as well.

Great Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding Caterer

We hosted our Rehearsal Dinner at Sun in My Belly and also had them cater our wedding reception. Hilary, Megan, Michelle and the team were such a delight and supported us throughout the process. To be honest, we significantly underestimated just how much a caterer is responsible for with the wedding logistics, but SIMB made it feel like a breeze. We wanted to have a vegetarian station and vegan station for our guests and they were able to give us lovely options for both events so our guests could have a full range of food. We had multiple people comment both on how great the food was and how grateful they were as vegetarians or vegans to have so many options.
Having our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant was such a treat too and made for a beautiful and intimate space. We loved working with them throughout the process!

Sun In My Belly was an amazing vendor!! Hilary was also our coordinator and having the two together was so helpful. Hilary and her team were amazing from the moment we met them through the wedding. Working with them was like planning a wedding with friends. I should also mention the food was delicious!!! We had multiple guests comment on how great the food was! Look no further for your caterer and coordinator - Sun In My Belly is who you need!

Delicious food that impressed all of our guests!

My husband and I had such a difficult time trying to find a caterer for our wedding. We tried several local caterers, and were constantly disappointed in the quality and appearance of the food. As big foodies, we really wanted a farm to table menu that was fresh and hot for our guests. Sun in My Belly really delivered! We worked with Megan, and from the beginning she was genuine, responsive, and accommodating with all of our requests. I may be a little biased, but it was the best food I have ever had at a wedding! There was plenty of food for our guests and they even bagged up some to-go plates for us to eat after the wedding. The thought and care that went into curating the perfect menu and creating a signature Fall Sangria for us was incredible!

SIMB was perfection

Sun in My Belly did such an amazing job catering my wedding!! I am such a big foodie and it was very important to me that we not only have pretty dishes, but that we had yummy ones that everybody would love. Leading up to everything, Marissa, Michelle, and Max were always super responsive and helpful. When we met with Marissa and Michelle, both were SO personable and were so accommodating when I had specific things I did and did not want, and even let me create a vegan entree for my guests (that everybody said was SO good!!). Everything came out perfectly and we had so many compliments!! I highly recommend SIMB! :)
