Unique wedding photography for an amazing price!
I want to start by saying that choosing a wedding photographer is very subjective. Before I began my search, I have taken a look at several photographers portfolio. Needless to say, I think some photographers work is probably the same as my Iphone photos.
Some people have the audacity to charge 3-5k for some really POS work. BUT, the reviews I got for those photographers were 5 out of 5 stars, rave reviews. SO... this is very subjective.
I think whats important in choosing a photographer is compatibility. Can you work with this guy? If you do not like certain shots, can he change it? Does your wife like him? Does your wedding party like the photographer?
This brings up my second point. Does he have experience? Depth? Not every photographer can do outdoors shot. I taken a few photography classes and I find controlling natural elements very difficult. Some are more photo studio and some are outdoorsy. Find one that fits your big day.
Equipment/crew. You do not need a $5000 camera, but you cant roll with a $150 one either. Check with the photographer to see if he has the tripods and the lens. Look at his set.
And, his crew, how many people is he bringing to your wedding? Surprisingly, some of the best photos taken on my wedding day were those taken by the crew members. They were flexible, fast and took really good shots.
Most importantly, can he capture the moment? Ho ho ho, I had two weddings and my second photographer in Taiwan. Famous. Renowned and pricey. He cannot capture the moment... cant capture the angles, and dont seem to get it.
There are moments a photographer has to capture. He has to position himself right at that spot and be able to make it seem natural. Control the lighting elements and fit in everything I listed above into the shot. If you lose that moment, you lost the wedding.
AND, he needs to know some photoshop b/c #$#% happens and a touch up can fix it.
Therefore, I strongly recommend Raymond Wu photography for the task for wedding photography.
His photos are highly raved, and i received great feedbacks from wedding party, my colleagues who saw my photos at my desk and on my screen saver, strangers who walked by my office and random folks who sees my wedding photos.
He captures the moment well... and really adds that touch to that moment. He did both my engagement and my wedding photos. Very easy to work with, fair pricing and my wedding party did not have any issues with him.
His crew was great and again, its subjective, but look at his work, and try him out. He does sample trials for a fee and if you do not like him, do not go with him.
BUT DO NOT FIND A PHOTOGRAPHER based on price or merely recommendation. Some people just cant capture the moment, or does this "innovative" photography which is totally BS and charges $5000-$10k for absolute crap. I heard sooo many horror stories of wedding photos gone wrong and wedding albums forever hidden in cabinets.
Check our raymond's portfolio, talk to him, take a some sample shots and get a feel for what you want. I recommended him to do commercial photography for a buddy of mine and his photos are now the official photos for a skateboard company. And, his work is quality and i have our wedding photos turned into posters for my wedding. Those photos are still in my home and im proud of those photos!
