We got married on the SLC Public Library rooftop, then took our couples photos at an arcade bar downtown — about as unconventional as it gets. Alesha flew in from out of state for a genuinely reasonable fee because she loved the concept, and from the second she arrived she made us feel completely at ease, even through the parts of a wedding where you're supposed to feel awkward standing in front of a camera.

What actually blew us away was the range. Ceremony light, golden hour portraits, then a dive bar with terrible fluorescents and neon arcade glow — five completely different lighting situations in one day, and every shot looked intentional. I've worked on film sets. That's not a small thing to pull off.

And then there's the shot none of us saw coming: my dad hugging me and telling me he was proud of me, for the first time in about 30 years. She caught it. Not staged, not posed — just caught it, exactly as it happened. That photo alone would've been worth the whole booking.
