Root and Wander is a freelance wedding photography business based out of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Just a 20-minute drive from Charlotte, North Carolina, their team is happy to service those hosting special occasions in and around the city. Owner and photographer Annie Chesson, a Charlotte native, is passionate about serving and loving others to the best of her ability. She believes photography is a thoughtful way to do so, by giving people ways to remember one of their most beautiful days. From the dazzling highlights to the small moments and everything in between, Annie will be there to capture it all.
Services Offered
Root and Wander provides several choices of wedding packages so that you can find what fits your needs best. These options include up to 10 hours of coverage on the day, the assistance of a second photographer, and a full online gallery. Annie welcomes you to meet with her for a consultation so that she can get to know your one-of-a-kind vision and style.

Root and Wander is based out of the greater Charlotte area. Services are happily extended to those celebrating throughout the border between North and South Carolina. Areas covered include Asheville, Raleigh, Greensboro, Columbia, and beyond.

Incredibly professional, fun and easy to work with!
Annie was such a huge asset to our wedding day! The pictures she took were phenomenal and really captured the love and beauty of the event. Annie was super easy to work with from the beginning. From the engagement session to our wedding day, Annie was very responsive, professional and made me feel at ease throughout the entire process. Annie has a great attitude and is so fun to be around. I highly recommend her and am definitely going to be using her again for other special events that come up in life! We were so happy with our wedding pictures and thought they were edited beautifully!

Annie was an amazing asset to our wedding!
Annie was such an asset to our wedding. Her work is incredible and she has a great gifting of making her clients feel seen and loved. She made my husband and I feel so comfortable and captured the sacred "in-between" moments of our day so effortlessly. She nailed our "must-haves" including the first look, father-daughter dance, and special moments of hugs and encouragement from our families. Annie returned our curated and edited photos so quickly. She is prompt, gifted, a wonderful communicator, and talented. I would recommend Annie over and over again and feel so lucky that she was our choice photographer.

Surprise Engagement Photos
I can’t say enough good things about working with Annie! First, she was super responsive and easy to talk with. I got the sense she really cared about our engagement and was almost as excited as I was for the moment. She was super flexible with timing/location and even drove 2.5 hours to the mountains for our 30 minute shoot. I had convinced my now fiancé that we were simply doing Christmas cards with our dog but Annie knew better. When the time came Annie captured one of the most important moments of our lives. Annie also was super patient with our dog Scout who wants to do anything but sit still for pictures. Whenever we want to do a photo session or Christmas cards in the future Annie will definitely be our first call.
