They were great in finding someone who played African/Middle Eastern music and it turned out great, but they were not so great at returning phone calls, letting me know where things stood, etc.

Potomac Talant came highly recommended to me from a friend who used them for her wedding. The first few phone calls I had with them were great - very responsive, quick to send me a demo CD, give me references, etc. But at the closer it got to my wedding, the less responsive they became. They coordinated both ceremony and reception music for me.
The strings we had at our wedding were fantastic, but not without issues. First, the band leader was not accessible at all. She would call me during the day at my home (even though she had work and cell numbers), while I was at work. When I called her after work, she was never available. I did not actually get to speak to her until 1 week before our wedding. The day of the wedding, my wedding coordinator had issues with them - everything from the band leader not liking where she was set up, to wanting to play a different song than I had picked. Lucikly, my coordinator handled it professionally and I had no idea about any of this until after my wedding. Everyone commented on how great the ceremony music was how beautiful the strings sounded.
The DJ we hired was OK, but not great. He came highly recommended from Eric Cathcart. The day of our wedding, he made several mistakes. First, I went over with him 5 - 6 times how to say my maiden name to introduce my parents. I even wrote it out with the way it sounds, and he still said it wrong, even after being corrected. Then, he began the 'last song' 1 hour before the reception was supposed to end!! Even after our coordinator told him it was wrong and SHOWED HIM THE CONTRACT, he was still would not annouce that he was wrong and our guests started packing up. I had to GO UP TO HIM MYSELF and tell him "NO, OUR RECEPTON GOES UNTIL 9:00!". That's when he annouced that he was wrong, but some of our guests had already left. I was furious.
All and all, it wasn't a terrible experience, but for the money we paid, I did not expect some of the customer service and errors we experienced.
