Lovely wedding on 10/6/19 - Bride & Groom Review
Our wedding at Point Breeze 10/6/19 was the best choice we could have gone in terms of location, food, design, accommodations and more. Our wedding day consisted of an outdoor ceremony beginning at 3 p.m. and the reception to follow. It was a dream day and we are happy to share a glowing review.
The on-site ceremony area by Lake Webster is just gorgeous. While the restaurant is part of the overall landscape, we had privacy and there weren't any people dining outside while our ceremony was occuring. We found it so nice for our guests, especially older guests, that everything was on-site. We had about 100 guests or so and only 70 chairs so some people stood during the ceremony. It was also an overcast day in October, but definitely still warm enough to be outside. Point Breeze has a trellis which you can use for your ceremony and decorate as you’d like. As you can see in some of our photos we chose a floral look.
For the ceremony you’ll need to hire a DJ/Band or someone to do audio so the sound travels outside. We had my uncle connect us with some audio and we had a live instrumental duo to play instruments which they amplified.
After the ceremony is time for the photos. We took family photos right on site in the lake-side area. The lighting was perfect and there are some sweet wildflowers and a birch tree for scenery. While our guests had a musical cocktail hour, we took our couples photos. Here is a link to our photographer’s blog post on our big day. https://www.allierichards.com/blog-feed/2019/chelsea-roland
Allie did such a wonderful job and wanted to highlight here as well in-case anyone is looking for a budget friendly wedding day. Allie Richards Photography, is very experienced and reasonable when it comes to budget and time. We were so thrilled with our photos.
The food was amazing. AJ -- Point Breeze Owner, kindly offered my husband and I to have all three meal offerings so we could experience what our guests were having. On our menu was the stuffed chicken, steak tips and baked haddock all with a side of potatoes and roasted carrots. The food was amazing, and my husband made sure I sat down to enjoy some. Our guests received a cocktail hour and the bar is in the Pinnacle Room which made for easy retrieval of drinks. Our guests loved it. We also offered appetizers for the reception which we also loved by guests.
The room we had our reception is was the “Pinnacle Room” and we also had space on the outdoor deck to use -- overlooking the lake. So fantastic. There was a ton of room for our 9 piece band to play and tons of room for dancing. There was ample space for 100 guests to walk around and mingle, though the Pinnacle Room can hold up to 140 people. It was a fun space for children as well (we had about 10 children attend.)
If you like a wedding venue that gives you free reign on design, creativity and overall vibe, Point Breeze is your place. You design the band/music, decor, room setup, menu, outdoor ceremony and drink menu. They are truly helpful when it comes to setting up your reception room and the flowers. We also had a vendor come in that the restaurant works closely with to have slips on our chairs so they looked prettier. Highly recommend doing this, added a lot to the ambiance of the room.
*Leaving off here are some things to be specific about with Point Breeze day of or while planning: pay attention to room temperature during the reception and the timing of events -- (have a good plan with AJ about timing a few weeks beforehand)
*Give your photographer a great idea of where you want photos, go to the venue on your own to scout out areas so the day of your wedding you have a game plan. There is also a beach nearby if you want a beachy vibe -- Memorial Beach. AJ the Point Breeze owner will show you around Point Breeze grounds where there are plenty of green spaces, beachy and rocky places to get your couples photos taken.
Ladies there is no “getting ready” area at Point Breeze. I actually put my dress on when I arrived there just minutes before the ceremony because I did not want to get driven in my dress. So you’ll either have to rent a nearby hotel room or get ready at home. Thankfully my mother has a picturesque house/yard so we got ready there. It wasn’t too big of a deal breaker not having a “suite” to get ready in and probably cut costs.
We had truly fantastic day at Point Breeze that left us with a total wedding bill under $9k including everything below and more. I highly recommend all Central, Mass and Boston-based services listed below. We had such great experiences with all of our vendors.
