When our family needed a place to gather and celebrate the life of a loved one, we wanted somewhere that felt special, welcoming, and memorable. From the moment we walked into Old Towne Hall, we knew we had found exactly that. The charm, character, and rich history of this beautiful building made it unlike any venue we've ever experienced. Learning that it is the oldest operating speakeasy added a unique touch that made the setting feel even more meaningful and memorable.
What truly set our experience apart, however, was Ingo and his amazing staff. Planning a Celebration of Life is an emotional journey, and there are so many details to manage while processing the loss of someone you care deeply about. From day one, Ingo treated us with genuine compassion, patience, and professionalism. He sat down with us, listened to our vision, and carefully walked us through every option available.
Every little detail mattered to him. He helped us select linens that perfectly matched our invitations, assisted with menu planning, and thoughtfully ensured that every guest with dietary restrictions would be comfortably accommodated. As our RSVP numbers changed, he reassured us repeatedly, "Don't worry, we've got this." And he absolutely meant it.
When the day arrived, our family was focused on honoring our loved one and being present with friends and family. Thanks to Ingo and his staff, we never had to worry about a single detail. Everything was handled flawlessly. The entire team was attentive, caring, organized, and always one step ahead. They transformed what could have been an overwhelming day into a beautiful celebration filled with warmth, comfort, and cherished memories.

Oh, where to even begin with how amazing Old Towne Hall is for reception events! From the initial meeting for our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding reception, Ingo and Sandra were honest and genuine with what they offered and the costs involved. They offered suggestions for local entertainment, alcohol purchasing, desserts, and lodging as well. These leads provide similar quality service which will make your entire event run seamless while not robbing your bank account. By the end of your event, the only regret you will have is that you can’t adopt Ingo and Sandra into your own family so that you can spend more time with them.

Ingo loves to cook and he delivers on his promise to serve scrumptious food. Old Towne Hall allows clients to customize their own menu without escalating the pricing for “going rogue”. Our family took them up on that offer to be unique. Ingo picked up at our initial meeting how my husband and the groom love Rueben sandwiches at Christmastime. He created mini-Ruebens as one of the hor d’oeuvres served at the meal tasting and wedding. Being married at the end of December, the bride and groom wanted an “Old Fashioned Christmas Dinner” and Ingo hit the nail on the head! Guests have not stopped raving about the food served at the reception.

Sandra makes the organization process so easy! She communicates well throughout the journey and helps ease your mind the weeks leading up to the big day. With allowing the hosts to purchase their own alcohol, the open bar bill for the entire evening was extremely low compared to what it would have been at other venues. Sandra picked up on the groom’s family being Irish and presented us with an Irish Mule at the food tasting that was so refreshing! Sandra was a Godsend at the reception, keeping a watchful eye on all the details so that we could just focus on having an enjoyable evening with our guests. She and the staff also stayed late that evening to box up all our decorations so that all we needed to do was drive up and haul it out the next day.

If you are looking for a reasonable venue with phenomenal customer service, Old Towne Hall will not disappoint you or your guests!

Throughout our search for a reception venue, we considered over 120 different places. We were thrilled to finally find Old Towne Hall (OTH), which offered the perfect combination of affordability, ease, quality, a DIY bar, and a personal touch. OTH is run by a husband and wife team who are proud of their food (and they should be!) and the historic building that they've refreshed and renewed. They did a great job on everything, and we wouldn't have changed a thing. We especially recommend that you have some sort of pork dish, because it was downright phenomenal.

On the day of, they were able to accommodate all sorts of odd requests: like filling up every other bottle of beer with water for the groom so that he'd stay sober. They were even prepared to host our ceremony inside the venue in the event that our outdoor ceremony was rained out. That flexibility and attention to detail is just one of the many things that you'll love about OTH. It was great to feel that so many aspects of the reception were taken care of, so that we could focus on each other and our guests.

Above all, Old Towne Hall is leaps and bounds more affordable than any other comparable service we were able to find, especially because you're able to BYOB.

From the first meeting to the end of our night Ingo and Sandra were AMAZING!!! 5 stars truly isnt enough...when they say don't worry about anything they really mean it...top notch food...killer value...they make you feel like family. They don't advertise amd rely on word of mouth but now I know why...there isn't enough room on a billboard to advertise all that's awesome about them...check out this hidden gem in downtown Crystal Lake!!

We loved having our wedding at Old Towne hall.

I am obessed with Old Towne Hall. I've had many good times there so I knew that's where I wanted my wedding. They are such caring and chill people. They worked with us to make sure our entire dinner had something for everyone (gluten free options, vegetarian options and even seasoning/soy-free options). They didn’t bat an eye at any of our unusual requests and seemed to really be down for all of the quirky and unique things we asked of them. They made me feel so incredibly comfortable. I had many questions of them in the months leading to the wedding. Every time I reached out I got an almost immediate response from their Facebook messenger so I could plan accordingly. Before the wedding we had an amazing tasting. They gave us extra time to set up and even boxed all of our décor up for us the night of the wedding so we could continue on with the celebration at a local pub with our bridal party after the reception ended. There were several situations that arose throughout the evening that we were not made aware of. They handled everything so our day was filled with uninterrupted joy. We appreciated that so much. There was no stone unturned, no request too big or too small and no hitches in our day at all. Sandra had her finger on every detail and Ingo’s dinner feast was incredible. I could go on and on about every detail they took care of to make our day special. This is not your run of the mill cookie cutter venue. Its unique charm and vintage detail left the slate open to anything we could imagine. I was amazed at how easy they made the entire process and I am so incredibly grateful for everything they did for us. I plan to return to this hall at every opportunity I get. Highly recommended!!!!!

The couple that runs Old Towne Hall, Ingo and Sandra, have been nothing but wonderful to work with since the beginning. They have been flexible to the nth degree with scheduling the tasting. The place is a blank canvas, which worked really well for us since we're doing a lot of DIY with the decorations. They don't include all sorts of things you don't need or want, and you get to design your own menu. Ingo cooks everything from scratch, and the food is delicious.

All I have to say is that Sandra and Ingo are absolutely amazing....amazing doesn't even describe how truly accommodating they are. I came in 3 months before my wedding (which was on a Friday), a crying soon to be bride with a fear that I was not going to have a venue as my previous one fell through and they had the date available! Ingo and Sandra gave me a beer and a hug and took care of me! I absolutely recommend Old Towne Hall for anyone looking for a venue.
