Always having a love for music, Saturday mornings were all about American Bandstand when Mary was growing up.

As her children got older, she decided to become an Event Planner, starting her own online business selling products and services for parties and weddings. Eventually she even opened a retail store where she loved meeting with her customers and helping them plan their special events.

Mary & Phil were drawn to each other due to their common love for music. With Phil’s DJ & Percussion experience, coupled with Mary’s business and event planning background, they feel they are the perfect team to own a DJ Entertainment Group - NY Sound Machine.

At a very young age it was evident that my love for music was going to be a lifelong passion of mine.

Growing up in an Italian family, my mom always played music on her little transistor radio, especially every Sunday morning – singing Italian songs while she made sauce.

At 8 years old, I played along with The Beatles on the radio with my homemade drums – my Mom’s pots and pans

I played drums for a successful Italian Wedding Band and backing up more Italian acts from Italy.

I also performed at Disco Ball, playing percussion alongside some of the most well known 70’s artists.

Always pursuing my love of music, I put together a DJ Company in 1990, called JP’s DJ Entertainment Group, booking parties all over the Tri-State area.

In addition to my success as a Party DJ, due to my love of drums, I also play percussion, which is a popular add-on for any of our party packages.

After 30 years of professional experience in DJing parties, with the help of my partner Mary Katos, we have started NY Sound Machine™!
