Hard Working Hotel

We worked with the NBHH for our wedding room block. We also used their ballroom for the bridesmaids to get ready in and for brunch the following day, as well as their bar/lounge area for the after-party.

We originally met with NBHH in 2019 and the planning for everything went very smoothly, we were given a room block link and we forwarded this to all of our guests. Then covid hit, and we decided to postpone our wedding to 2021. Working with the hotel to postpone was an easy process. However, as we started to get closer to our wedding date our contacts at the hotel were no longer working there. We found out that due to covid, the hotel restaurant was closed, the liquor license expired, and the hotel was severely understaffed. This unfortunately is a common outcome of the pandemic, and we knew we were going to have to roll with the punches!

The hotel has an industrial style, it has brick walls, hardwood floors, and a cool vibe in the lobby as well as the guest rooms. The beds are super comfortable as well. The rooms are also rather small, but that doesn't bother us.

The hotel location is great, walking distance to plenty of bars, restaurants, and shopping. I would say that I would not recommend walking alone at night as there are a lot of drunk characters walking around downtown.

The only big issue we faced was that the room block link from a third party called Choice Hotels, for some reason was no longer showing the reservations in the NBHH system. We had to have all of our guests rebook their rooms at the hotel. This caused a lot of issues, where guests who originally had double rooms, no longer could access them. The hotel was close to filling up that weekend, and I was concerned guests would show up thinking they had a reservation (with their reservation email) and then not have an actual room in the system. The NBHH told me they were not taking any additional reservations for the weekend unless they were part of our wedding to save rooms in case of an issue. This was very stressful and bizarre how it all happened. Somehow it all worked out to my knowledge and it sounds like everyone was all set when checking in.

The NBHH staff was incredible to work with. As a stressed Covid bride, I knew that they were doing everything they could to deliver the wedding weekend we were originally promised. A few weeks before our wedding, the hotel was able to obtain their liquor license as well as a menu for our after-party and brunch.

The NBHH did everything they could to make it an amazing weekend for our family and friends. There were only 4 staff members working, who basically did not sleep the entire weekend. We are so appreciative of the extra mile the NBHH staff took! The hotel opened their restaurant just for our wedding weekend, providing food for our guests.

On the day of the wedding, staff was constantly checking in on us to see if we needed anything. The after-party was AMAZING! we had the entire lobby/lounge/bar area. 150 guests came back to enjoy bar food, drinks, and live music.

The brunch the following day was incredible, the staff probably slept 3 hours in between the after-party and brunch. I can not thank them enough for giving us a weekend we will NEVER forget. The hardworking team over there did not go unnoticed. It has been a difficult year for the industry, and we could not be more thankful for the staff at NBHH for helping us host the best weekend of our lives, thank you, Allen, Mary, and the rest of the crew!
