We used Museum at Prairiefire for our school's annual Daddy Daughter Dance. The staff was incredibly helpful and hospitable and our families had a wonderful evening!

When planning our wedding, my fiancé & I imagined our reception to be a unique and fun experience for our guests that was affordable to our frugal budget and provided services that would keep our special day enjoyable and stress-free. After looking at what seemed like every venue the KC area had to offer, my dad suggested we check out the Museum at Prairiefire. When I called to set up an appointment, the staff there was eager and willing to meet with us and easily worked around my planning team's (aka my familys) schedule. I was awe struck just pulling up to the building to see the brightly colored stained glass windows that encompassed the whole building and reflected the sunlight so boldly. When I walked inside, I was even more impressed by the clean and modern-yet-historic feel of the building. While the setting was gorgeous, I had a hard time picturing it as a reception site. The staff was so prepared and personable that they easily shed light on the endless possibilities the space had that lent itself so perfectly for a wedding reception. Not only was the layout perfect and the price more than reasonable, but the venue itself was so stunning that we knew we would also be saving money on flowers and decorations! Who could compete with a giant T-Rex skeleton, stained glass, colorful uplighting, and bright backdrops?!? We had a BLAST completing DIY projects for the small amount of decorations we did include to play off of the museums prehistoric theme that made our wedding truly unique. Our guests and even we were SO impressed with how flawless everything looked when we walked in. I had no idea the site could be even more beautiful than it was without all of the tables and decorations, but it was truly magical. Honestly, everyone kept describing our night as a fairy tale and it truly was. In keeping with their description, the comparison I would make to the staff would that they were like our fairy godmothers!

Our wedding was wonderful! A beautiful event space that really speaks for itself! We added some uplighting for the evening and couldn't believe how beautiful our pictures turned out (still waiting to receive more)! There were a few hiccups with the changing of Event Coordinators, but once I had voiced my concerns, they came back with a solution! We rented the classroom on the second floor, to get ready at the museum. The only problem I had with this was there was no place to hang dresses and suits, which was fixed less than 10 minutes after I asked! Everyone here wants to make sure your days goes amazing!! We did an Oscar style ceremony, we loved not having to do a room flip and guest were comfortable knowing where they would be sitting for the whole evening! On a side note with renting this venue, they are turning around and working with teachers and children in our communities!
Plus, who doesn't want a T-rex skeleton in their pictures and to dance with dinosaurs!!

This is truly a one-of-a-kind venue! Kelsey, Event Coordinator, is great! The cost is a bit higher, and the flexibility is challenging (the museum is open to the public until 5pm, so the earliest start time is 6pm), but it was worth it to us. We continue to get compliments on how great our reception was. Plus it made for AMAZING photos. :)

We had a great reception at the Museum! All our guests commented on what a unique and beautiful reception venue it was. Closer to the wedding the event staff went through a number of staff changes and there was definitely a lack of communication (hence the 4/5 stars). However, once I was reconnected with the person I was working with (Teresa) everything was pulled together very quickly and professionally. And the night was a beautiful, fun and memorable one!

The venue was absolutely beautiful and everyone had an excellent time. I thought the value was right on for the size and day of the week that we had our wedding. We had no problem setting up a run-thru. I wish that they had more "approved" caterers to choose from. After the wedding, when I was making the final payment, the phone call was very cold, short and almost rude, but other than that, no complaints. Perhaps they were having a bad day that day...

Not worth the pretty pictures. do yourself a favor - it is nothing but a headache and a hassle. There are way too many people "in charge' and they all contradict each other. we had friends and family miss our wedding because they told us the wrong time that setup could occur, and there was not enough time to set up. if you must, take some pictures outside, then have your reception somewhere else!
