A friend of mine recommended Joey to me. He was also their photographer during their wedding and only had great words to say about Joey's work. I did my own research of his work online and have also found rave reviews about him.

I first contacted Joey late 2014 to inquire about his photography services. At that time I also wanted some professional photos of myself and Shawn with the kids. So we booked him for an afternoon of outdoor photography in 2 locations in San Francisco in Feb 2015. It was an easy day with him. He was very patient especially with the kids. We are happy overall with the experience and the photos he sent us back afterwards.

We booked him for our wedding in April 2016 as soon as we confirmed the date with the venue. It was very easy to talk to him. He offered suggestions where needed without sounding imposing, When he arrived at our hotel to start the pre-wedding photoshoot, he was very professional and very creative. At the venue - before, during and after the wedding, I witnessed him inconspicuously insert himself at all those important moments to make sure we have all of them captured. Even the venue directors also had great words to say about Joey, having worked with him in several other weddings at the Cliff House beforehand.

He brought an assistant with him, Gabriel, who was also very professional and cheerful. He made me and my guests smile for the camera effortlessly.

We asked Joey to photograph our wedding last April, which was an out-of-town event in the Sierras near Reno-Tahoe. He did a fantastic job recording the events from the Friday pre-party, then the setup, ceremony, and reception party on Saturday. Since we're a little "older" and have been through this before, we asked him to concentrate on our family and friends more than on us. He did get a lot of nice photos of the ceremony, and of course the traditional poses with family and the wedding party etc., but he really did a great job capturing candid shots of all of our guests (and us!) just having a great time, exactly what we wanted. These photos are the most fun for us to look at and to share with family and friends, and will remain enjoyable for a long time. Besides having a great eye for composition, he has great timing for capturing fleeting events, and adds to that a mastery of techniques which enables him to artistically capture the excitement and movement of a moment.

Within two weeks of the wedding we received some 1300 photos from him... and they were all good! It took a lot of effort to pare these down to "only" the best 250 or so that we felt wouldn't be too daunting for others to look through. We've received many positive comments and compliments on our wedding photos - many thanks Joey!

We could not be more pleased with Joey as our wedding photographer. I am very picky about getting a photographer, especially for our wedding. I like my pictures the way they are taken. I think a lot of photographers nowadays edit much of the pictures that it loses the beauty and essence of the art of photography. We would recommend Joey to any future bride and groom. Hands-down one of the best choices we made while planning our wedding!

Joey took the photos for our August 15th wedding. Not only was he very easy (and fun!) to work with, he took some amazing shots throughout the day and evening. Moody Stills Photography is the best photography in the area. We got married in June 2009 and Joey did our engagement photos and wedding photos. We love showing off our pictures to our friends. He has great ideas for picture poses and an eye for attractive landscape.

We had our engagement photos done in three different areas. We went to a flower garden then to a bridge and finished on the beach at sunset. Joey was so warm and friendly he made us feel at ease so we could focus more on each other. He chose different backgrounds and poses and gave us a wide variety of pictures. He asked us to bring three different outfits for the different places. We finished at the beach at sunset and followed his direction and they are photos we will remember forever.

For our wedding Joey showed up early and took photos of us getting ready. He took pictures of the dress and the bridal party. We took photos near the Golden Gate Bridge but didn't have alot of time to work with so we followed his direction and we got all the poses we asked for done. The photos are amazing. He then followed our limo to Woodside where we were to marry. He was very thorough and got photos of us in the limo, interacting with guests and some behind the scenes photos of last minute wedding preparations. Our wedding photos are perfect. We had all the classic poses. picture of every guest, and some special night photos Joey took for us that always remind us of our special day.

I highly recommend Moody Stills Photography for anyone who wants amazing pictures, absolute professionalism, & a great personality to work with! As my mother told me after the wedding, "Roxanne, thank your lucky stars for him". Contracting with Joey was actually by chance since my original photographer had to cancel. Joey was referred & he automatically stepped up to the plate & reassured me (the very frantic bride). We first worked with Joey for engagement photos & I cannot tell you how incredible they turned out!!! So far beyond anything we expected - my (now) husband has always felt very unphotogenic & Joey was able to make him feel comfortable & look very handsome. We still get compliments on them, how often do you hear about people gushing over e-photos? They were by far the best pictures we have ever taken...until the wedding that is. On the day of the wedding, Joey was everywhere & hidden at the same time: he was there for every shot & every moment, yet you could hardly notice his presence. His ability to be almost a shadow for the whole event was exactly how you want it! I never felt crowded, but whenever I would looked for him to have a photo taken, he was always there every time, ready to shoot. Plus, his attention to detail, framing, colors, angles, lighting - he is ingenious!
I have a passion for photography & it was my number one concern for the wedding - Joey exceeded my expectations, made us the happiest customers possible, & to this day (months after the wedding), we still receive requests for Moody Stills' information. Guests want to know where he is based, does he do portraits, can he do their wedding, on and on.
