Working with Mika was one of my favorite parts of the wedding process. I said yes to my dream dress only to find out that they were no longer taking orders. So I said yes to another dress, but it wasn’t quite what I’d been hoping for, and I was a little heartbroken. After many sleepless nights, I found Mika online. I sent her pictures of the dress, and she told me she could re-create it, and for less than the original. Not only that, but she made the dress specifically for me, changing the proportions for my body and incorporating feedback from me at the last minute. She also made my veil, which I felt complimented my dress perfectly. Seeing Mika for our appointments quickly became a bright spot in the stress of wedding planning. It felt like time set aside just for me, and a big plus was getting to spend time with Mika, who is so bubbly and sweet and effervescent. My mom loved Mika too. I really feel that she saved the wedding and made me feel special every time I saw her. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day, and I will cherish the dress forever.

After having little luck finding my "dream dress" I took my vision to Mika and she constructed for me a couture gown beyond my wildest dreams. Mika is a creative genius who is deeply committed to giving every bride her very best. There's so much to be said about her skill, artistry, and work ethic.

She understands so precisely how to work with different fabrics and how to achieve what will make her customers feel like their most glamorous self. Through her expertise and perfectionism, Mika was able to construct a silhouette I never thought could be achieved on my body.

I wanted a very specific art-deco-natural pattern that had lots of sparkle. When we couldn't find the perfect fabric for my dress she enlisted artisan's in India to hand bead the entire overlay for my dress. Understanding my style and flair for a dramatic look, she designed a cathedral length veil that used the same hand-beaded pattern from the dress.

Working with Mika is a true gift (she's hilarious and a treat to be around) but you have to know it is work.You enter into a creative collaboration and commit to helping make every decision with her along the way. (I had a fashion savvy friend who was also available to come to each and every fitting to help me articulate my vision, which was very helpful.) For me and my friend, we loved getting to co-create with Mika and it made wearing it on my wedding day even more special.

From the first discussion about my vision for my gown, to the muslin fitting, to my wedding day... I could not be more thrilled with the process and the opportunity to know Mika and wear her stunning creation.

Mika is an incredibly talented designer who made my dream wedding jumpsuit come true. I came to her with my ideas and she was so excited about making my dreams a reality. She worked tirelessly on the intricate details of my garment and made sure that I was to look amazing on my big day. Not only is Mika a skillful designer, but she is also a kind and thoughtful person. Despite having many clients she always made me feel as if I was her only one. I am still receiving so many compliments on my wedding garment that she created for me! I highly recommend her!

Mika does a great job of listening to you and will take time to look at any pics of dresses you've tried on or dresses you've pinned. The more input you provide, the more personal the dress and experience. She's also very upfront about talking budgets and will keep you realistic about what you can and cannot do within your budget, while never sacrificing quality or creativity. After a 5 minute consultation, she sketched out a dress that looked like exactly what I wanted, before I could even realize what I actually wanted!

We had a few fittings - one to take measurements, another in a muslin (cheap cotton) copy of the design to double check measurements before going into production, and a handful in the dress itself to perfect the measurements so that the dress fit like a glove on my wedding day. I found myself actually looking forward to my appointments with Mika, who was always so welcoming and personable in her studio apartment it was like visiting with a friend (a super talented one, at that). She has a terrific eye for detail and will not let you leave until both she and you are 100% happy with the dress.

I went from being a skeptic to being completely in love with my wedding dress, thanks to Mika. I felt like my dress was a perfect representation of me, and could feel like myself on my wedding day, while dancing up a storm and staying comfortable (one piece of criteria that went into the design). I received a ton of compliments (the most important one being from my now husband), and the most spot-on compliment I received was, "your dress looks like it was MADE for you." Well, it was!

Mika made my wedding! I went to 4 other big NYC bridal shops and nothing made me feel special. I had read about Mika in NY magazine and thought I'd give her a shot. When I went to see her, I showed Mika pictures of what I liked from a few other dresses and in no time she sketched out my dream dress!!! I fell in love with it right then and there.

I trusted Mika to design and sew my dress and when it was done. it was even more beautiful than I had imagined. Delicate French lace, buttons down the back and a custom veil where the lace perfectly ended where my dress started. Mika was flexible and worked so hard to make it perfect. She always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face.

I highly recommend Mika - she is an artist and a professional. Believe that she will create a beautiful dress just for you!

Mika is so wonderful it brings me to tears sometimes. I reached out to several dress makers with a challenge: I wanted my mother's 1970s dress turned into a wedding gown for me, and no, I didn't know what I wanted.

Mika was the ONLY one that balanced her professionalism and knowledge with complete compassion for the project. As a bonus feature, she responded with thoughtful answers in less than an hour--and that kind of communication has been true throughout the process! If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was her only bride because she made me feel THAT special and important!

Through the design phase MIka helped guide me to build a dress that would flatter me and my style while still staying true to the nature of my mother's dress. She was always honest with me about what was possible within the parameters of the material available and ended up designing my dream dress with every ounce of lace off of my mothers. Looking at myself on my wedding day, I saw my style reflected in the history of my family, and I could never have asked for more.

Mika is a true gem and the utmost professional. I will miss her as a person (she's so fun to hang out with!) and will always be grateful that she came into my life at such a special time. It was an honor to work with her.

Mika Inatome is AMAZING! I could not find a dress I liked at any of the main NYC salons primarily because I HATE sweetheart necklines (#PromDress) and the few European brands that had dresses I did like were out of my price range. Also, I was kind of late in shopping for a dress and most salons were going to tack on the "rush" order fee, and some cases charge me even more for extra fabric because I am nearly 6ft tall. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted and Mika created exactly what I envisioned. I created a Pinterest page with photos of elements I wanted -- certain necklines and sleeves and silhouettes etc so she could see exactly what I was going for - a slim-fitting fit and flare long lace gown with straps and scoop neckline. Mika can do any kind of dress but her specialty is slim-fitting gowns. I am so happy that I went custom instead of buying an off the rack dress. She can do a dress pretty quickly. I think she did mine in about 3 or 4 months and I always enjoyed visiting her studio and chatting with her because she's super cool and funny. I had a long lace gown with more of a scoop neckline and a bit of lace on the straps. I was really trying to lose weight up to the last minute like most brides do, and the wonderful thing about Mika is she can literally do the last fitting just 2 or 3 days before the wedding so you know your dress will fit like a glove! For a bespoke gown her rates a very reasonable and of course all alterations are included in the price.

Mika is for brides who want to look classic and don't want to look like a princess or a confection. Mika is unbelievably talented and hardworking. She doesn't stop until it is perfect. She also has an incredible eye for what will work with your figure. Within minutes of meeting her and describing what I would like, she drew a sketch of exactly what I had in mind. Over the months of fittings she crafted what my wedding guests described as the most classic wedding dress they had ever seen. She was able to make a truly beautiful one of a kind dress that was also very simple and elegant. She also handmade my veil which was incredibly beautiful. Plus, she is such a pleasure to work with. She is so sweet and warm and really makes you feel at ease. When my Dad saw me in the dress, he was amazed at how it looked exactly like the initial sketch I had shared with him. I highly recommend working with Mika for a one of a kind dress and a truly unique experience! It's not often in life you get to have a dress handmade for you.
